But unfortunately he's offside.

"If you play a ball that rebounds off an opponent or goal post if it is kicked by your own teammate it will be an offside."

He's ahead of the ball (which is where the line is drawn from - not emerson himself)

Rules here

But the ball didn’t go forward and there was more than a hint of a nick off a defender, each of which would rule out offside.
No. Direction of ball is not relevant - it’s the position of Kane when the ball is played.

And the touch by the defender has to be intentional- in this case the ball hit the defender. You could argue he tried to play it, but it’s not a certainty.

VAR needs a 60 second counter. If they take longer than that took for marginal offsides then the goal stands.
?!! For the ones where they take 5-6 minutes they end up just doing analysis paralysis and getting scared and just going with the safer decision of not allowing the goal. If they can’t decide in 60 seconds then they should leave it

When it comes to the offside rule, the direction of the pass is irrelevent. A ball passed forwards, laterally or even backwards can be offside
I presume you mean if a ball is played backwards it knocked forward?

Felt really deflated initially but am way more annoyed with our performance, of course mainly in the first half, than I am the VAR call.

In fact the second half made the first even more annoying.

Big credit to Bryan Gil too, that's the sort of energy and drive I want to see throughout the whole side.

Regardless of VAR, we’re not great are we?

Another disappointing game but in the plus side I’d start Gill over Moura every time. Guy clearly wants to get on the ball and make things happen - like him a lot.

You do have to wonder when so many look off form and ask questions of the boss, if it was anyone but AC there would be more asking questions, but he has credit in the bank. I do think several of our players are seriously overrated for modern football, Dier okish defensively, but going the other way so slow and sloppy in his passing, our full backs desperately poor going forward, while our mids often get overrun operating at a man less. Moura long past this level, while son remains completely out of form.
Good to see Gil starting tonight, brought an energy others were sadly lacking.

Maybe, but score in the 70 mins prior and you’re not so bothered about a last minute goal being chalked off.
Still two different matters IMO. Credit due to the guys for fighting still and possibly winning it. One leads to another. They played shit before and making up for it. Injustice hit so why shouldn't they/we be bothered? I really don't understand this we-should-have-so-we-shouldn't-be kind of argument.
