Only time I seem to remember one coming from almost nowhere was Sissoko summer 16? I know we were linked before and we’re linked early on deadline day but pretty sure he was destined for Everton then very late in the day one of the ITKs (JJ?) told us we’re not done yet, not long after Sissoko was revealed.

That’s obviously happening tonight with Gvardiol ?

Regarding necessities for the summer window (LCB, CCB, RW, Striker?), a big factor in bringing in quality players in those positions will in all likelihood not be here. Paratici has identified and brought in quality players. He's been instrumental in the rebuild. We need someone like him to lead things in the summer window, and preferably one who also has a knack for getting deadwood out permanently.

The direction that the rebuild has been going in needs to be continued.

It's not just about getting bodies in like we used to do.

I think Levy did ok this window with regards to his job regarding Porro but Paratici failed heavily.
Why do you say that, it’s not Paratici who’s going to pay for Zaniolo and Hincapie etc. All Paratici can do is negotiate to a certain degree, Levy is still the one who pays and sets limits. If he doesn’t want to pay a certain amount or only wants to pay a certain way that’s his decision not Paratici’s. I’m sure we could have got Zaniolo for example if Levy was happy to commit to the transfer but by all accounts he wasn’t.

I don't get why we keep looking at what others are doing as some sort of barometer for what we do, especially Chelsea. Every window posters like you pick a club and use it to prove your point as to why things are so difficult. Every window however it's a different club that's used. Why is that do you think? I'll tell you why because it's a different club every window that is struggling to get certain deals done, yet we are the constant.

If you think we've done well this window so be it, but do you not think we could and should have done more?

Every window there are numerous excuses as to why we've left our selves short. The problem is in the first two word of this paragraph. It's EVERY WINDOW.

It isn't easy, it never is! It isn't however always as difficult as we make it.

It's not a barometer. Just using an example to demonstrate thay no matter how much money there is, there isnt always the availability of players. People keep saying to strengthen at CB. Who is available right now?

Tell me a club who has had a perfect window, and left their squad without deficiencies?

I think we can surmise that we wanted 3 players in with the clear areas of need;
- GK
- CB x2
- RWB
- RWF

So far we've satisfied just one of those areas with Porro who whilst certainly looks a bona-fide improvement at RWB, we have still left areas of weakness unaddressed and leaves a massive summer ahead.

Problem being is Conte's future and indeed Kane's because sure as hell once we've started to remedy these defensive areas sufficiently there'll be even bigger gaps to fill elsewhere - we are never proactive enough and as a result, always in arrears with where the squad should be which culminates in us continually falling short in competitions.

It's almost as if a chairman who won't pay money, a manager who is ludicrously inflexible and a DOF who is on the verge of going to prison isn't conducive to us signing many players

Let's be honest we all knew we were going to end up left very short in the squad. While Levy/Enic are in charge of our club we always will be. I don't think the Juventus thing has helped us as far as Fabio doing his job this window either.
Anyone that thinks that an attacking RWB is going to somehow catapult us into the top 4 and solve our defensive problems are kidding themselves. Time again we spend our very hard earned money supporting and buying merchandise in the hope that at some stage we will return to a football club but in the end we are just making Levy and Enic richer.

Thing is. That flow chart stops working at the first hurdle.

Porro deal is being dragged out. Probably internal lock down on leaks for PR purposes because of the heat around Levy in the stands.

Really hope I'm wrong and it's VDV 2.0.

Yes it’s a disappointing end to the window, but I’ve just gone through the list of players that every PL team have bought this January and if I could choose just one from any of them, I’d choose Porro.

when he was tearing us to shreds in the group stages I thought, now why can’t we get that fella at RWB? never dreaming that we actually would, this very season

I’m disappointed that we didn’t go back for Bastoni, but aside from Gvardial there aren’t any other obvious candidates at CB that would have excited me as much as Romero did. I’m disappointed we didn’t go for Zaniolo just because of the Conte implications, but as long as he’s understanding then fine

personally i think Porro transforms us, and with all key players now fit - something we haven’t had all season, I think we can have a much better second half of the season. After we lose to City at least….
