Do we really need a rebuild? Yes there’s postions we need to strengthen but wouldn’t call it a rebuild.
I think the squad has greatly improved from mess it had been allowed to get into when Poch left.

We have five excellent central midfielders and some decent attacking options up top now with recent additions of Danjuma, Richarlison and Kulusvski.

We will need a new goalkeeper, which reports indicate we are monitoring a number of options (Raya please) and aside from that we are desperate for a least one centre back, preferably someone who can play left side.

We do also need an attacking midfielder who can also play right side, but centre back is the really urgent area.

We have a very prosmising left back incoming and hopefully Reggy back too, whilst also having Spence coming back.

Only issue is we are often just short of one or two players and crazy Mr Levy doesn’t think that way, so who knows if we’ll get them!

I certainly feel since Paraciti has come in we have upped the quality overall though.

I can’t see how Poch is going to achieve anything with the current squad. It’s not a patch on the squad he had when he was first here and all the top teams were faltering. We had Loris, Walker, Toby, Verts, Rose, Dembele, Wanyama, Eriksen, Dele, Kane, Son and we lost the league to Leicester. How is it going to be better this time round? I just can’t see it working out.

This is from last week but I think Ossie may have given something away here..

Many many more? Sounds like someone is planning on staying in London..

Yes I'm a sad prick reading into things too much.?

Shame we can't do a trade with Chelsea. Conte fits Chelsea's 'have another £400m to spend' approach while Potter has experience and success with a 'we're not signing ready-made top 6 players' transfer policy.

My issue with Poch returning is his style of training/play won't work too well with an aging Kane/Son where the pressing is high tempo and starts at the front, and the back line, Romero aside isn't equipped to press like that either, mind you Hojberg isn't either!! So you either alter how you play which I don't know if he would or move on from those who can't do what's required. Which, with Levy at the wheel isn't likely.

I’m really worried about Poch. Love the guy, but just feels a missed opportunity to really try to move forward and I think it could sour quickly.

if he is the one, it has to be with a strong DOF and a much improved scouting & roster strategy setup.

The Poch/Levy combo on their own was a disaster in recruiting. 175M in pre-inflation xfer fees on Sanchez, Ndombele, GLC and Sess to be pillars of a team. It’s crippled our roster for years. An absolute disaster class. Also were horrible about loaning out youth players to get experience.

We’re going to have to find some astute buys in defense, attack and a creative player.

Have a hard time seeing how Kane or Son fit into a Poch high press scheme at this point.

It's entirely plausible that this summer we part ways with;
- Our manager (Conte)
- Our DoF (Paratici)
- Our star player/figurehead (Kane)
- Our long standing club captain (Lloris)

Time for the necessary reset and a totally fresh approach embracing two tier recruitment policy focusing primarily in quality youth potential. Establishing a clear directive from the top down in terms of how our philosophy will be translated from academy to 1st team with clear pathways.

Ruthless cull needed to remove long standing deadwood alongside players on the wane whereby we can recoup adequate funds from and new set of eyes to oversee the process (sorry Poch);

- Manager (Gallardo/Amorim)
- DoF (Rui Braz)
- Star Player (Richarlison)
- Club Captain (Hojbjerg)

I'm not sure why Son couldn't play in a pressing system higher up the pitch. He still has energy and pace, we could actually rotate him a bit which would also help. He's still quick.

At the moment we play so deep so often that he has to cover more ground because whenever we win it he's got to make 40-50 yard bursts upfield. If we were keeping the ball more and pressing and counter-pressing, he'd be able to focus his runs in a smaller area higher up the pitch.

If the pressing and counter pressing was structured correctly it could work.

Kane is a bit more of a question mark but then think about this. City wanted him and they box teams in and hound teams very quickly to win the ball back. Once again if we were playing higher up and dominating possession more perhaps he'd be ok.

Carrick is interesting

I think it's far too soon.
If they get promoted we can see how he does, or let a bottom half team take a chance.

If they don't come up, we should definitely be on the phone to him to see if we can send any youngsters there on loan.

All opinions but for me a rebuild is 9/10 players, most teams probably sign 3/4 players each summer so 5/6 doesn’t seem to drastic to me, considering we signed 7 last year.
realistically imo we’ll probably get a GK, 1cb, sign danjuma and maybe a CAM depending on which manager comes in.

I’m talking about purely the team, of course the manager DOF and stuff needs sorting.
Definitely all opinions, but the 5/6 we need are most of the spine of the team - and for me, that's the minimum we need to do, which is what makes it a rebuild job to me.

Most important in the next window are the outs in my opinion - thinking about the likes of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sanchez, Dier to prioritise the non-HG places, and probably one or two of Davies, Winks, Sessegnon, Rodon, Reguilon. Lloris will presumably leave, Lucas be released, and I don't think we'll make Danjuma or Lenglet permanent.

Ideally we could plug some gaps with players stepping up from the academy but as that seems very unlikely given how it's not really taken off as we might have hoped we'd be left needing to sign half a team of starting XI quality players in key positions.

I don't for one moment expect we'll do all of that though, or even half of it. I can see us fumbling around for months trying to move Sanchez before we bring in a single centre-back.

We’ve actually got the makings of a very good pressing team. Richy and Deki could be pressing monsters in the right system. The midfielders, Sarr, Bissouma, Skipp, Bentancur could all be awesome hunting down possession.

Even Hojbjerg had some of the best ball recovery stats in the league when playing in a high press system at Southampton. He’s never gonna be able to cover wide open spaces when we’re sitting deep, but if the whole team’s pushed into the opposition half he’s intelligent at hunting the ball.

The whole issue is building a defence and keeper who are comfortable playing a higher line and pushing up the pitch.

The same for Kompany too. Daniel farke used to do well with Norwich in championship but was not good enough in PL. Gerard same: good with rangers but shit in PL.

Not that I'm advocating it but you could make it work in the 4-2-3-1 by dropping Kane into the 10 role and playing Richarlisson ahead of him with Son and Kulu either side.

Could easily get a 433 Liverpool style out of the current players

Ideally we need a playmaker but we have enough forward power to get by creatively for now with good coaching

Factoring Kane into any role next season seems optimistic to say the least subject to a humongous cash injection or takeover.

Who knows mate. One thing for sure is things are going to be interesting under whoever comes in on the right hand side. Porro has cost a lot, Spence was Levy's golden ticket and Emerson has started playing very well. I can't see there being room for all 3 whoever comes in.

Indeed. I was just responding to a poster asking how he could fit is all.
