Stellini on Conte returning:

"Antonio will be a massive boost for us from tomorrow until the end of the season. It is important that Antonio is back."

The arrogance is astonishing. They genuinely don’t fear the sack when they’re lucky to still be in a job as it is.
That is a point tho. No matter what we think, the fact Conte hasn’t actually been here will play into his future imo. Regardless of what we know are deeper tactical issues I think his absence will certainly make the board a little less concerned. I’m sure at this point Levy et al are hoping he gets back as soon as possible.

Really I think it would take dropping down into mid table for the board to sack him. Even if they’ve already decided Poch is his replacement.

It isn't but Levy won't destroy his credibility (perceived or otherwise) by sacking Conte unless there is a replacement waiting.

Poch is waiting.

Only thing probably keeping the sacking away is the money cost of sacking and that we haven’t totally collapsed as top 4 is still very much on and in our hands. If that is threatened and the fans in the stadium also get nasty I’d expect the trigger to be pressed.

It's embarrassing isn't it. For the want of a reset, the last 4 years have been such a waste of time.

I think and it feels like this can’t be turned around, just cut our loses and let’s be honest we’ve been here so many times before we all know how this goes , just bring Poch back and fuck knows how that goes but at least we’ll get watchable football again.

It’s made so much worse for the fact that Conte is clearly off in summer no matter what, and has not taken up the offer of a longer contract. When we are playing absolutely atrocious football it beggars belief that we are persisting with him in that context.

What are the odds of Stellini earning manager of the month, Conte being awarded it and Poch accepting it? :p

Nothing will happen until the season is over... no matter the outcome. Sorry to say so.

You've been a Spurs fan long enough - you know that you wouldn't be surprised.

Not just a waste of time I think it’s genuinely been a massive negative impact on so many things. I think the fan base are so disconnected to the club now. We’ve wasted 4 years of having one of the best strikers in the world. We’ve wasted the final 4 years of Sons career here probably. We’ve spent millions and millions on players that a new manager may not even think fits his style by employing 3 defensive managers in a row. We’ve allowed multiple clubs to pass us or be bought without building on our upward trajectory. I think the impatience within the fan base is out of control right now and even if it’s Poch I’m struggling to see any understanding if we went on a bad spell next season.

Got the feeling that we go out of the CL midweek and Levy will pull the pin soon after.

I'm worried though. State of our list isn't flash - especially for a Poch type progressive manager. Not great times.
Levy won't sack him. Why pay him off when he is out of contract at the end of the season?

I think Levy knows that if we somehow go on a bit of a run and win 3 or 4 on the bounce then Top 4 is very much on - he won't sack him whilst that is still true.

It would also be a genuinely unpleasant thing to sack a man who is off sick whilst recovering from a major op.

Levy thought he could do it cheap by sacking Jose and getting him to drag our average squad up. Backed Conte more but not to the level needed.

He has shown he has no fucking clue about football. To hire a manager used to Ronaldo, Modric and Ramos and giving them the likes of Sanchez, Dier and Davies.

Currently Levy is being outdone by Kronke, Kronke doing little more than delegating to the likes of Edu and letting him build a long term project. Think about that a man like Kronke who knows less than any of us about football and he is smashing Levy simply by trusting the people who know about football to get on with it.

Fair points and there is every chance that it's been agreed that he'll hold the fort until the summer to avoid any embarrassing situations with an incoming coach. I mean, yes it's generally accepted that Poch will come back but do we know that he'd be willing to come before the summer?

It screams that there’s a mutual understanding to part ways at the end of the season to me.

Just going through the motions.

Sa and Kilman yes.

Neves probably but I don't think he's that much better than what we have. Just actually allowed to play his game.

Either way...we shouldn't be losing that game with the sides that were picked.

He wouldn't be any better in a midfield 2 who are constantly outnumbered and have very little chance of picking up any 2nd balls. Can't imagine Neves in a team that seem to want to concede possession at every opportunity.
