My No. 1 choice is Ange.

I have followed him since his Brisbane Roar days and he is one of the closest things to a miracle worker there is going around at the moment, at least into the almost instantaneous way he transforms his teams into playing attractive football.

I'd be up for this too, just to have a big Australian in charge.

We won't buy a new manager from another club. So it's one of the free ones... I'm leaning towards Poch as the best solution to not end in the same situation again in a year or two.

And he would be welcomed as a hero from the start. Right now I just want positive vibes.

Enrique is another we are looking at, would actually be very happy with him.
I put this in another thread but what's so special about him? It's been years since his last club job, he lasted 1 season at Roma , a club I think are our equivalent in Italy

Do we have anywhere near the technical base in the side to play his style though?

Feel that’s my constant sticking point. We have essentially 3 truly competent technical dribblers and passers - Kane, Bentancur, Romero. Porro, Perisic, Bissouma perhaps also fit the bill.

The entire rest of the squad does not. We have the worst assortment of technical skills and passing acumen in the entire top 10.

Why the hell is a man about to be banned from football choosing our next manager.
I'm not so sure he is. Cobbling together a few bits and pieces that we've heard along with stuff from journalists, add a smidgin of educated reading between the lines, there's more than one voice in all this and wanting different things too but I think we all know who's going to make the final call.

Paratici? He may or may not have some input and my guess is that he will have, even if superficially, otherwise (and this is a complete guess) he'd possibly have grounds to sue for constructive dismissal or something.

I can see absolutely no issues whatsoever with Enrique trying to play possession football with our carthorses.

Quadruple here we come :playful:

Let's be honest, we need someone that understand Levys bullshit. That's literally 3 options - Poch, Mason and Parker.

Any other manager will have to wait 3 years before accepting Levy isn't changing, if they aren't fired beforehand.

This is a sincere question. Why do people want Luis Enrique? As far as I can see its been about 8 years since he was in club football. He only lasted one season at Roma and had all the tools he needed at Barcelona. Am I missing something?
Pep was always at teams that had all the tools and I would take him. And Enrique's Barcelona was more fun to watch than Pep's. And he inherited Barcelona with Xavi and Iniesta nearing retirement and regressing, changed Rakitic's role and improved to such levels that someone like Xavi wasn't missed. He had 42 wins in his first 50 matches, plenty of managers at top clubs like City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona failed to do it or come even close. When his 433 didn't work he switched to 343 or 442. I've seen him do well with proper strikers like Suarez or with a false 9 or even with Morata in attack. He argued with Totti and Messi and won't be afraid to tell Kane that he is shit at free kicks. What's not to love?

I'm as down on most of our players as anyone else and some I don't think are good enough but a change of manager, system, philosophy might save two or three. We need to hope that such an improvement is forthcoming because any serious rebuild is going to take two or three years so it would be good if that were the case.

Enrique has the bonus of being a decent bloke, which has become quite important to me. Weird that we’re letting a guy make decisions who will likely be in prison this time next year but ho hum.

Tuchel/Enrique, not for me. We need a manager who sadly is better with average players, can really grow long term young players into better footballers.

If Tuchel/Enrique is what we are looking at sadly I think it will end in failure because it’s not a fit and if this is what the board wants I have to question their strategy.

Whatever happens, as fans, we're going to have to commit to being patient (again) because they're going to move direction again with the managerial appt and it's going to take time to get them playing to whatever style we land on this time.

Really hope you're right.

I guess my frustration with his name being here is my perceived total lack of planning from the club with his situation being a prime example.

Enrique wouldn't feel invigorating at all for me. I either want Poch or someone young who's on an upward trajectory.

I really don’t see the clamour for Luis Enrique nor do I see it being the right appointment for us.
He’s not managed much club football in years and just screams out ‘big name’ again.

We need a young, hungry, progressive and ‘project’ coach.

My guess would be there is a 'plan' of some sort. Although I wouldn't hold out too much hope of it being a sensible, well thought out one.

I'm also guessing that for legal reasons, we can't just say something along the lines of "you're going to be banned anyway so we're going to do this and ignore you or your input" There must be a reason he hasn't been suspended so for me, although it's complete guesswork on my part, i'm assuming the club is doing what the legal beagles have told them to do until there's clarity. I think they'll cross that bridge when they come to it so to speak.

If anything that’s makes the Enrique argument even stronger. As a club it doesn’t matter who is in charge, we need the players to have the technical ability of a team that can consistently compete with the best. Enrique would require backing with technical players, but realistically we should be going for technically better players anyway. Enrique would just force the club to do it, which is a good thing. It doesn’t even have to be Enrique, but a new culture should be built with new players and a new manager together. So build to that over a long period with a plan.

Far too reasonable and fair.

I wanted to throw a pitchfork 😂
