So many decent managers out of work and it's Stellini and Mason. Renewals around the corner and we have no idea what direction the club is going to go in. Only us would be this sort of a shambles as a club. Disgraceful really. Sack Paratici and make the situation simple. Got a man involved in new manager and he'll likely get a ban from football in the next couple of months. What a complete mess. Any other person in charge of this mess would be sacked.

My theory: Nagelsmann will only come if we finish in the top four. So all eggs are in that basket. If we fail to make top four we will turn to Poch. Who may have an offer from Real Madrid by then.
I think just being in Europe will be enough. It won't be a quick fix and we are not ready for champions league football

If Naggelsman was really interested in managing us he surely takes the job now, if he wants to keep his options open for possible bigger and better things he "wants a break", or he feels he still has a good rep and is not willing to risk that by working for Levy.

I don’t think we can run the risk of leaving it till the summer to tie up - it’s kitchen sink time beforehand!

Interesting there’s no comment from Paratici, only Levy.
All of the recent statements for transfers and coaching updates have had comment from Paratici. Suspect he’s off too
Paratici did an interview summarising our Jan transfer window did he not?

Or he is just a human and needs a break from a surprising sack of his dream job and would need more time with his family and thoughts to start something new. (optimistic me) Still possible he signs for us in the next few weeks if we can agree on budgets and the direction of the project.

Make sure you take your time to pick a strategy and coach for the long term. I’m really quite happy with the interim because it means they haven’t rushed into something just for the sake of it. Maybe they’re convinced by Nagelsmann or someone else but that can’t happen until the summer, fine. Maybe they’re still undecided, also fine. Just make sure to establish the base and identity first and then the decision on the coach should follow easily if the vision is clear to everyone.

Way Nagelsmann was sacked was too erattic. He was preparing for April first week Dortmund game and then the CL games against City. Now, he has no job. Also broke up with his GF around the same day.

Common sense is, he would take his time to get back into management even if thats until summer.

I am still optimistic that, we will approach him and try to convince to take the job in summer. If he is interested, we will announce the deal well before season ends... If he isnt interested, what can we do ? We got to get the new manager when season ends.

I think it’s reasonable and sensible for any manager of decent standing not to take the final stint of a season while trying to impose a new system and make sure they get a Champions League spot so they have the budget they want. Far easier to sign a pre-agreement on the basis of qualification with budgets and expectations attached to it. Why commit to something that’s touch and go? Gallardo has rejected proposals mid season, Nagelsmann has only just lost his job, and a few other targets are in title races. This is a good outcome all things considered.

Yea I’m alright with that but we need to sort the manager asap. Could spur the players on if they know we have a gaffer in place and he is watching.
100%, Stellini & Mason rest of the season is fine, IF we announce the new manager taking over in summer so the players and fans have something to be excited about and look forward to.

If we keep searching until the summer I think frustration will grow with the players and fans between now and the end of the season.

Under Mason & Stellini although we still played 3-4-3 we played nicer football and the players seemed to play with more happiness and freedom.

I wonder how long it will take us to get the new manager in place, if we can announce something before the Everton game or at the LATEST before our next home game then I think the momentum from then until the end of the season could be really positive.

Agree and why not sign pre-contract now and take break until pre-season.

Clearly we wanted Tuchel and this prompted Bayern to act. Had Bayern not acted he’d have been in place and conte sacked 2-3 days ago imo. It just so happens the ex Bayern manager is best fit for our club going forward.

Agree with the fact he’s adapted and is tactically versatile I just don’t think that he’s naturally a coach who wants to play a high press and high possession and brave creative exciting attacking football whereas as I said there are 11 realistic options available who do so I’d be disappointed if we end up with Galtier.

But I don’t think he’d play as negative boring stuff as Jose, Nuno and Conte and no doubting he’s a very good coach just think of our top two targets are him and nagglesman well they are very very different options so just smacks of a lack of a plan imo.
Yeah I don't get the thinking either. This is a huge appointment for us. I've said before that Conte was a huge coup for us so I'm willing to give them a pass on getting someone who didn't fit our longer term philosophy but gave us a chance of immediate success (obvs we didn't back him properly and fucked up again). But now we have to get the guy that fits a blueprint on how we want to play for the next decade, and all of our signings for the next few years should fit in line with that. The fact that we still seem to have no idea what we want is concerning, but no surprise.

You would hope that behind the scenes we have got someone lined up to take the job in the summer that either isn't available now or needs some time out. But then after:

  • The absolute shambles of the search for Mourinho's replacement that ended up with Nuno 2.5 months later
  • Sherwood being given the job for half a season whilst we courted Van Gaal before settling on Poch
  • Pleat being given almost a full season as caretaker

Then it wouldn't surprise me if there is genuinely no outstanding candidate yet and no real plan from here - just a few that have said "let's wait and see". Whilst Paratici is still here with the court case over his head I can see this dragging on for a while.
