It's obvious we badly need a manager that has the balls to recognise out of merit, not names, that players play, and promote or drop players accordingly. Maybe not to the extend of military-style regime and discipline, but the command of respect must be had from the players to the coaches/manager.

It really bugs me to think if there are any appearance clauses in the contracts of higher earners inserted by Levy to milk for some form of commercial benefits back or what. I know I'm over-thinking, but there really is no reason that Hojbjerg and Son consistently played past the hour mark with such performance. Hojbjerg blew hot and cold, he could be coming up with something I give it to him.

But Son I'm not defending him anymore. He has had ⅔ of the season to prove his dip of form is just a blip, but no, he's outrageously bad this season. With his commercial potential in Asia, I won't be surprised Levy was having a word with the managers to play him as much as they could to expose his face to the world. The bottom line is Levy has always been tying cords to the hands of coaches and all the problems are now have grown so complicated and intertwined that changing just one part of the equation is not going to solve the issues we are having at all.

Keeping Stellini makes no sense if he is going to play like Conte anyway... we might as well go gung-ho with Mason in charge (or some coach from the youth setup) the last games if we want to wait for the right manager...

Nope, sorry that isn’t on the manager at all.

score a penalty, then automatically sit deep.

then dick around making silly keep ball passes in our box allowed Everton to get closer to us and gather momentum.

then, the mistakes come in.

that is down to the players.

N O manager worth his salt will come to this club, given the playing staff.

mar need a fully new back line, goalkeeper, defensive and attacking midfielders - that’s probably around 400/500 mill in this market just to close the gap quickly - it ain’t ever gonna happen.
Of course it’s on the manager. If you think players go onto the pitch and just wing it, you’re insane. They are playing the way the manager dictates. They pass out from the back because that’s what the manager wants. They play on transition because that’s what the manager wants. They play with two in midfield because that’s what the manager wants. If we continue to play Conte‘s way, nothing will change.

A point more than what I was expecting.

The glimmer of 4th is fading.

Just goes to show what a clusterfuck of decisions have been made by Levy.

Yep. Top 4 was there for the taking this season. We might still sleep walk into it but every week that drifts past that goes.

I honestly doubt we’ll make top 4 this season given the competition around us and their current for vs ours. Most have a game or two in hand, so our chances are very very slim IMO.

I doubt it as well but the United haven't won a game in ages and Brighton are getting a lot of draws as well. Newcastle are probably favourites for one of the two places and then it's a matter of the least terrible between us, Pool and Utd.

The moment that screamed no ambition to win things was when we did nothing that summer with Poch...

We were in a position of strength to kick on and did nothing.

Then I realised Levy's objective was top four only on as little investment as possible.

That MO won't change

Doesn't matter who the next manager is under him.

Are we allowed to criticise Levy in here without a load of gimps giving negative ratings and saying it’s boring and nothing to do with Levy?

Can't imagine what the atmosphere will be like on Saturday. Toxic may not be strong enough.
It’ll be the same bland atmosphere sprinkled with the odd outburst of singing. Too many people at the games who simply don’t give a fuck (tourists) coupled with fans who have been broken.

It's everything to do with him.

Because that attitude of his permeates through the Club....that accepting of only aiming so high....

Especially with the players.

If your employers were only bothered with you hitting certain targets...

Then guess what...so would you be....

Thats what's wrong with this Club....and it's created at the top and cascades down through everyone

These players are all mostly good or great for their countries, the common denominator is Tottenham and no it isn't bad luck.

It's a bad environment and bad coaching
The squad is horribly unbalanced and too many just aren’t good enough for a team challenging for the top four.

We severely lack technicians and creative footballers and we also lack energy, pace and legs.

Agree, we’ve not been a well coached team from an attacking / possession based perspective, but the squad still needs major surgery in my opinion.

We need a new first choice keeper, at least two new CB’s, another LWB on top of Udogie, a back up for Bentancur (someone who can create from deep and progress the ball through the thirds), a CAM (Maddison would be ideal), a LWF and cover at RWF and a Kane replacement.

From the current squad

Regular starters

Porro
Royal
Romero
Udogie
Bissouma
Bentancur
Kulusevski
Kane (he’ll leave if he has any sense)
Richarlison

Squad Rotation

Davies
Sarr
Gil
Reguillon
Forster

Sell / Release

Lloris
Dier
Perisic
Sessegnon
Sanchez
Tanganga
Lenglet
Hojbjerg
Son
Winks
Ndombele
Lo Celso
Moura

Their last away win was 3rd Jan agaisnt Lampard's Everton, they drew with a poor Palace and a poor Leeds side. We definitely shouldn't be giving up hope.

Sounds like they're due a visit from the Doctor.

I agree with every single word mate, 100%

The guy has destroyed the joy of being a fan of this club, trying to win by playing good football.

We never ultimately win and for 4 years now have played eye bleeding football whilst paying the highest prices in Europe to attend.

But some fans won’t have it because of the shiny new stadium and higher average league finishes than under Sugar - same amount of faaacking trophies though.

Yeah, I think Carragher and Neville have nailed it here.

Getting the right managerial fit will solve a lot of problems, but levy and the board need to stop interfering. Give a dof a budget and let him work with the manager. No bargain opportunistic buys that the manager doesn't want. Let the football people solve the problem on the pitch.
