probably already been said but he's absolutely destroyed the argument that this group of players isn't capable of playing attractive football that all the conte stans claimed was holding him back

We really need to let this go, I'm sure there was a conversation not so long ago about not doing the whole "I told you so" thing?

Everyone who continues to mention both JM and AC in this thread or any other, as if it's some justification for their hurt feelings after their tenures with us seriously need to look in the mirror and find some maturity.

It does nothing to "prove' your argument, and Ange has a long way to go still. 3 good preseason games with slightly more possession and entertaining football will mean jack shit if we don't get the results during the season to back it up.

Just like our team scoring the 4th highest amount of goals last season playing "dinosaur" football couldn't keep us from leaking the 3rd most goals across the same season.

Everything in football is relative and it always will be. Hindsight is always 20/20 mate.

The vast majority of us have already moved on from those two and I think you should too.

Calling two of the most successful manager's in the world frauds simply because they didn't work out with our club is just bitter and immature.

Move on.

The Standard getting in on the 'Ange's style of football' reference now ;)

Tottenham: Harry Kane offers ‘I'm a hipster ball’ tease as final transfer decision draws near

Harry Kane’s future remains uncertain, but one thing could not be clearer: he would score a shedload of goals for Ange Postecoglou's ultra-attacking side.
Kane offered Spurs a tantalising glimpse of what might be possible next season, as well as a timely reminder of his all-consuming importance to the club with four goals in yesterday's 5-1 friendly win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

As it stands, perhaps only chairman Daniel Levy, who is in the US, knows whether Kane is likely to still be a Spurs player in September, and certainly Postecoglou remains in the dark.

"I've said to [the club] that if the status quo changes, then inform me," Postecoglou said after yesterday's game. "I just want to deal with what's in front of me because, irrespective of the outcome of [Kane's situation], I'm building a team here."

Even Kane, who captained the side as he has done throughout pre-season, appears a little unsure of what is to come and there was no goodbye yesterday, although he conducted a customary lap of the pitch afterwards, applauding fans.

"I don't even know what's in Harry's mind, let alone anyone else's," added Postecoglou. "All these things will play out over the next period. We'll deal with what happens from there."

Despite his interest in listening to a proposal from Bayern Munich, Kane is clearly laser-focused on the task at hand, evidenced by his clinical display against Shakhtar in a friendly to raise funds for the people of war-torn Ukraine. He was twice assisted by James Maddison — hinting at a potentially fruitful partnership — and once each by Dejan Kulusevski and Manor Solomon.

Given Spurs's new-found commitment to attacking under Postecoglou, the 30 League goals Kane scored for Antonio Conte's staid team last season could easily be surpassed — a selling point not lost on the head coach.

"The way the team plays will help him as well," Postecoglou said. "He loves scoring. We created a load of chances and he was the beneficiary of that."

While there will surely be no repeat of two years ago, when Kane pushed to join Manchester City and subsequently sat out the opening-day win over the champions, it remains firmly in Spurs's interest not to drag out a decision over his future.

Postecoglou yesterday played down talk of Bayern setting a deadline for Spurs to respond to their latest bid for Kane, suggesting the end of the window is the only real cut-off point for a deal, but it would hamstring the head coach if his talisman is sold towards the end of the month.

Postecoglou's side is taking encouraging shape — even if he "wasn't delighted" with some aspects of yesterday's display and believes there is still "a lot of work to do" to change his players' mindsets — and Kane is currently the beating heart of his rebuild.

He has started all three pre-season friendlies so far and, if Spurs still have not accepted Bayern's latest offer, he will presumably continue in their final warm-up game against Barcelona tomorrow, before they start the season at Brentford on Sunday.

"I can't wait [around] for a decision either way to get going," said Postecoglou. "We don't have the time or the luxury to do that."

Postecoglou could not use Richarlison yesterday, with the Brazilian missing with a knock but expected to return against Barca, and instead Kane was replaced for the final 10 minutes by youngster Dane Scarlett, who scored.

In the event that Spurs reluctantly sell Kane to avoid potentially losing him on a free next summer when his contract is due to expire, Richarlison would be the obvious replacement, but Brazil's No9 is a very different player, preferring few touches to Kane's many.

As the season draws closer, Postecoglou needs to know whether he is building a side around Kane, at least for a year, or building a new era without him.

FWIW, the “Ange's style of football” acronym comes from his Celtic days, it’s not something spurs fans have made up themselves it’s a continuation of it.

It's just modern football parlance for every new manager's style ever since it got popularised by Sarri-ball when he came over to Chelsea.

If we'd hired Slot it would've been Slot-ball.

The good lord knows I’ve never cringed at a trend more than I do with this one, but thanks for the heads up. I had no idea it was that much of trend but then again I only focus on the best club in world football so I only really pay attention to Spurs related trends.

as others have suggested, it's likely to be a rocky start as the team and even Ange is on a learning curve. we should do very well against the bottom 10 and fairly well against the next 4 or 5 but we'll have our hands full with the top teams. Once Pep and others figure out how to punish us, others will copy and we'll have to adapt. that's why the two CBs are so critical as we need pace in the back and a common understanding on positional expectations as well as that hive mind that occurs when people know who's where without looking.

i could not watch a single game more and already be convinced conte was a fraud
Not so much a fraud. Just massively insecure underneath that facade, which he then projects on to the players and blames them for his own lack of flexibility and imagination.
These types of coaches hate themselves so much deep down, that they will run everyone else into the ground to try and get rid of their own feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing.

Anyone at the match yesterday would know that Ange was tearing into them at half time. Shaktar were out for the second half, the whole of Macnamara's Band was played, and then the whole of Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur and the team still weren't out. They then had to play Macnamara's Band again before they started to emerge. We then started the second half unrecognisable from the way we ended the first. Kulu in particular was unrecognisable to the indecisive guy of the first half and was reborn in the second. I can imagine the bell going off in the dressing room and nobody daring to move because Ange was still bellowing at them. His interview on the official site confirmed how unhappy he was with how we dropped off after scoring. This is my Tottenham Hotspur manager!

Ange was stood on the touchline mate for a good few mins whilst the players were nowhere to be seen. He may have ripped in to them at half time but he wasn’t doing so whilst everyone waited.
