The two best and most dangerous individual performances I have seen against us this season. Marcus Edwards in Lisbon, Marcus Edwards at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. I get the attitude worries but some of the negativity around this link is baffling. People saying Zaniolo is better but he literally has had the same attitude problems, Glass Knees and next to zero in terms of goal and assist output.

I am happy to go with the ITK that we should probably avoid because of the dangers of him falling back in with a bad crowd etc. But on the playing side it's not very often an opposition players performance against us terrifies me and excites me to watch at the same time. He is some talent. But then so was Ndombele.

I guess all I am trying to say is I would be excited if we did get him even if it is a risk.

Edwards would excite me and if Gil was to leave it would make sense. Zaniolo is a different type of player and has greater physicality which in our league is priceless.

threads you love to see bumped.... replacing one of our own with one of our own.. He was electric in the champs league last year and hopefully would be for us on the right of the front 3.

Could just be baiting someone else to come in and make a bid. With that said, his two way dribbling is of a high level so he makes some sense.

A few hours before the market closes - it closes at midnight next Thursday - many European giants are preparing the last offers to take some of the greatest talents. And in Alvalade there are two names that are gaining strength and promise to stir up the last hours of the transfer market: we are talking about Marcus Edwards and Gonçalo Inácio. The harassment of the winger and the young central defender promises to rise in tone and, yesterday, from England, both were (again) placed on the route of some Premier League emblems, namely Chelsea and Tottenham (for Edwards) and Newcastle (for Gonçalo Ignatius).

Old dating, it should be noted, but that generates some apprehension in Alvalade because this is the phase in which some clubs, as a result of necessity, can commit some crazy things. First Marcus Edwards. The winger, aged 24, was placed yesterday as one of the strong possibilities to increase Chelsea's strong investment in reinforcements (and which already exceeds the threshold of... 400 million!).

An interest sustained, above all, by Mauricio Pochettino's knowledge of the young English international that, remember, he launched during his time at Tottenham. According to the British portal Football.London , the fact that Edwards was not used in front of Famalicão - he had not been used in a championship game since March 2022 - would be linked to a possible transfer. For Chelsea or... Tottenham who never lost sight of the extreme that was formed in this London emblem.

More lit seems, for now, the harassment of Newcastle in Gonçalo Inácio. The London club, according to Football Transfers, has revived interest in the Leon central (which recently renewed until 2027) and promises to return to the charge. Also because recently, due to an injury, the Magpies lost Sven Botman. And they see the 22-year-old Portuguese international as one of the strongest solutions at the moment.
For now, A BOLA knows, no formal proposals have yet emerged. Which doesn't mean they can't show up in the next few hours. Duly armored, with long contracts and high termination clauses (both €60M), the lion remains... calm. And with alternative plans on the market, not least because, it should be remembered, they are two important parts of Rúben Amorim's structure. The departure of one of them, moreover, could also lead Sporting to a final attack on the market...

Think he'd be a really smart signing for Ange's system. Saw him live in Lisbon last year and he was very good.

Given the talk about HG options (all of which make absolute sense - we need to sell/shift 4 NHGs to sign even 1 currently), getting Edwards would be shrewd.

He probably also counts as Club-trained for Europe (for 24/25)

Edwards's reputation seems to have grown in his absence. But I can't lie, I'd love to see him in this system.

Edit: how tf is this off topic lol

Definitely see the sense in this. Although I would say Johnson is much more of a goal threat. However, I’m guessing we can get Edwards for cheaper considering we still have a sell-on clause for him.

If we play Johnson and Edwards, we may have to avoid conceding corners at all costs but we'd have some good pace and with Edwards, some really exciting ability on the wings.

This makes sense on multiple levels. To have him and Solomon on the wings against tired defenders towards the end of game would be a threat.

Can't see why Marcus Edwards would want to team up again with Poch at Chelsea.
