And people can say what they like about Hugo, Dier etc but players with drive and hunger to win and compete at the highest level aren't going to just sit in the reserves for a year regardless of their contract circumstance.

That is the mentality we have built over the last 5 or 6 years.

Don't get me wrong they are more than entitled to do that, and I'm not slagging them off for sitting on their contracts. What I'm saying is I'll be glad to see the back of players with that mentality.

Hopefully we reach agreement with both and they are gone this week. I don't want players happy to coast, around a young hungry squad.
I kind of don't want them ruining what looks like really good team spirit in the U21's. If they aren't registered, Part of me is, OK, go home. Stay there. Talk to your agent, and sort something in January if you want to kick a football again.

Of course he has a right to do it, but i'm saying it's not the attitude i'd want to encourage at the club. I bet Dorrington and Phillips would do anything to play.
Oh indeed which is why I said I want them released. I'll wish them both well and hope they find a new home and they are happy there. However poor they've been at times it's clear they've loved it here and they love the club.

I just want them gone now, it's for the best.

Anyone got a list of all our transfer failings over the years? Ie. Examples of where Levy has fucked up/been stingy or lacking a plan? Need to explain to a mate but want a solid list

Why do you need a list....when we became first PL club to not sign anyone for 2 windows ?

They're not going to stink the place up but it doesn't exactly help cultivate a culture of desire does it? If I were Ange i'd be keeping them away. It's not as if we haven't warned them of the consequences of their actions.
What I meant is I doubt they will be anything to do with the club in a couple of weeks, if that. And will have found new homes having been released, where both pocketed signing on fees. I just feel cynical.

Mate the club made the decision to extend their contracts to preserve a transfer value. It's on the club as much as the players.
No one could have foreseen the rapid drop off in Hugo, and likewise not sure many thought Ndombele on a 6 year deal when we signed him was anything other than good business. Dier is a little more complicated.

17 PL games to go till Jan transfer window
3 international breaks. In these 3 breaks, Argentina plays 6 WC2026 qualifiers. All important games including Uruguay & Brazil.

We need Romero not get red, not get more than 5 yellows and not get injured in these 23 games...looks a tall order

Incomings-
Guglielmo Vicario 🇮🇹
James Maddison 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Micky van de Ven 🇳🇱
Manor Solomon 🇮🇱
Alejo Veliz 🇦🇷
Ashley Phillips 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Brennan Johnson 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Dejan Kulusevski 🇸🇪 (permanent)
Pedro Porro 🇪🇸 (permanent)

Outgoings-
Harry Kane 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Harry Winks 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Joe Rodon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 (loan)
Djed Spence 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (loan)
Sergio Reguilon 🇪🇸 (loan)
Japhet Tanganga 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (loan)

So taking out Kulu/porro out as they was already here - I’d say only Maddison and VDV are nailed on improved our 1st 11. Vicario looks decent (if rash sometimes) Solomon was 100% a levy special and will probably not see much game time, and I just don’t think BJ starts every game?

veliz and Phillips aren’t going to be anywhere near the 1st team anytime soon?

id say 4/10 window personally.

You'd think that there would be enough money left to terminate at least a couple of contracts. I understand the point about it setting a bad example but surely they can make an exception with Ndombele and just pay him off?

Lloris, Dier, Sanchez, Hojbjerg, Ndombele are hardly bad players to have around.
We were never going to solve everything this one window. We have no Europe and we’ve managed to bring in some decent players.
Sanchez and Højbjerg will be in the squad, the other three won't be registered.

With the exception of Ndombele, I hold no ill feeling towards players who haven't accepted options to leave. Lloris is a WC winner and was our captain for long enough, I'd even keep him around as talisman for Vicario to learn from for a year. Dier, why should he sign a deal for a lesser club when his next deal is likely his last, so as a free agent he can get better terms, I've never really rated him, but I'd stop short of saying his screwed us over by staying. Hojbjerg, I genuinely feel he's been screwed over by Athletico, he will play a part this year and he will put in a shift when called upon. Sanchez, given his form over the years I was really surprised that he was our most likley sale, but maybe CB's are in demand. I genuinely hope we don't cancel contracts unless they are on significantly favourable terms, certainly wouldn't be offering it rather have players ask and get "Levied".

The only news that worries me is Rob saying Ange is furious. If that Is true, I’m very disappointed. He’s been a ray of light. Someone who has been patient and collaborative with transfer process. But it sounds like he has sadly been made to suffer a typical Danny grift. Promises everything, delivers anything but.

The biggest and best news will be when he is no longer involved with any football decisions.
He needs to back it up with prove, this is sound like hear say or just speculation which doesn’t help anybody. Comments like this only causing more negativity and hate. Sorry but we all need to be responsible .

You know we literally won’t be allowed to play at least 2 and probably 3 of them right? Also, Ndombele is the very definition of a bad player to have around - he quite clearly doesn’t give a flying one

Subjective but I think that is a bit harsh. I'd go with 6/10.

Fingers crossed Romero doesn’t do something rash and get a suspension first half of this year or go off to Argentina and get himself hurt. He historically does one or the other.
Let’s hope he goes off to Argentina and gets a suspension there so he can come back early.
