Rice Maddison
Saka Son Martinelli

I think this is realistic at the moment but I think Vicario will be seen as one of the top keepers in the world very soon.
How can you leave the best defender in the world (Lionel Messi 2023) out of this team? Madness!

Was a bit sloppy today, and with a settled block in front of him he isn’t as incisive as I’d like him to be, but the Salah 1v1 was absolutely crucial. Moment of the match for me, and he executed at the top level.

Only one yellow away from a one match ban now.

At this rate he’ll get 10 before the 32nd game so will get a 2 match ban in future. Hopefully Bentancur is back before that time!

You can see that he needs to feel the opposition on him so that he can glide the way he needs to go.

Once Liverpool backed off and he arrived at the penalty area he became a little unsure as he didnt feel he was drawing them out.

Think this is one area he needs to improve if he wants to be up there with the very best.

His shooting too.

Are the ref's more card happy this season or is it just me?
There was a mandate to issue more cards for dissent/time wasting.

Its going to lead to a lot of suspensions - so the league will want to be careful about going too far, but it will hopefully cut down on a lot of the dissent in particular.

Thought Bissouma picked up an injury after a challenge early in the first half before the Jones tackle. He wasn't moving well after it and seemed to be less progressive with his runs and passing. Still had a good game.

One more yellow and he gets a ban.

Ideally he’ll get it in next game to miss Fulham as he’s more needed for palace or Chelsea after

Interesting looking back at the old pages from last season on this thread and how much of a turnaround he's made in just seven games with Ange. Lots of comments in the Conte matches about how he looked nervous, plodding, not involved in the game. We had direct statistical evidence to show at Brighton he was more progressive than what he was doing last season. Ange has got that unlocked and he's no longer playing within himself but running the show. He's everywhere on the pitch for us now whereas it seemed last season he was instructed to play within a size of a box and Hojbjerg was the one with a bit more license to go forward.

Flip side to that is - if you sit him now, that is the same as giving him a 2-game ban. The game you sit him, plus the game he eventually misses. Should just play him until he picks up the 5th yellow.

Really - league should re-visit the YC accumulation penalties. Certain positions are simply more vulnerable to picking up cards and 5 in 19 games is pretty easy to accumulate without excessive fouls, or unsportsmanlike conduct.

Basically Conte suppressed him and tried to make him joyless to fit with Contes personality.

Didn’t know where to put this but I see he made Crooks’ team of the week again on the bbc website.
I don’t get Crooks and never have done but come on, at least say why he made your ‘team of the week’ as opposed to using you little column as yet another media avenue to start spouting a load of drivel driven by the media frenzy as to how Liverpool have been robbed!

Yves Bissouma (Tottenham): For the second consecutive week Bissouma makes my team selection. The Malian was at the heart of Tottenham's performance against a hard-done-by Liverpool.

The decision by referee Simon Hooper to send off Curtis Jones was a poor one. At first glance you can be forgiven for thinking that the tackle was a bad one because you see Jones make contact with Bissouma.

However, the Liverpool's player's foot moves with the momentum of the ball, and that momentum then carries Jones's foot into Bissouma. Hooper should have seen this on the replay and didn't, which is most concerning - a yellow card was plenty.

No sooner do Liverpool feel the effect of one injustice when another one comes along, but the video assistant referee (VAR) remained conspicuously silent. Luis Diaz's superb strike was ruled offside when you could see from the naked eye it was a perfectly good goal.

Does Bissouma get an extra game for the second yellow on top of the 5 yellows he already had?
