Feel Ange will be pretty disappointed with that tonight.
A lot of the first time passing seemed for the sake of it with no real purpose or idea of where to go next. At best it was changing the angle and at worst it was just slowing us down and congesting things.

With the low narrow block we really needed to move it even quicker and make more dynamic third man runs to pull them out of shape, but it was all a bit pedestrian and not what we have seen against similar tactics previously.

Yes we created lots of space early but then too many touches and overthinking started to creep in.

Hope Ange can re-instil the message and fast.
I think one of the issues we have with low block teams, and West Ham in particular are very good at this, is that they don't try to tackle. They retreat to the edge of the box, or even the penalty spot, and just close space. Think of it like the semi circle in a 5-a-side game. The FB shows inside, and one shuffles across. We move it one player and they shuffle again. We go out the other side and everyone just moves across. It's always 1v2 but without the defender ever committing, so we never create an overload (and we oblige by never taking them on).

If you think about how Rugby Union teams use drop goals to gain points against an unbreakable defence, we need to work on creating pockets for shots from the edge of the D. It both creates direct goal scoring opportunities from the shot, but also forces the defending side to send a player out of the line to close it down.

Tonight it was almost like we had an agreement with WH as to how we'd try to score a goal and stuck to it rigidly.

Ange doing the best with the bunch he’s got available. Even some of the best XI still need an upgrade. Both wingers for a start and a proper striker.

Yes can see a situation where Ange's patience starts to wear thin with some of our attacking players and he'll be demanding more from them and if they don't step up he may look elsewhere for a solution. Think he'll need and want players who can step up when the likes of Son and Maddison are not available and not just be there to supplement those two.

With the energy we put into our play, crucial we make the most of our our attacking play in the final third and need more players in the final third who can consistently deliver and he can count on.

What's the obsession with winning every game, especially when we're not City with endless resources?
It's disheartening to see that, after each loss, there's a rush to criticize Ange.

That's not what being a Spurs fan is all about!

We should be relishing the journey, enjoying the progress, and appreciating the unique path Ange is steering us on.

Spurs is more than just a scoreboard; it's about unity, camaraderie, and a distinct identity. Let's refocus on that and leave the knee-jerk criticisms behind! 🔵⚪️
Absolutely - I think people have mistaken my comment for impatience and being critical for the sake of it. Not at all - this is going to be a bumpy ride.

I just think we’ve gotten a bit carried away in some quarters. There are so many variables but the facts are we’ve beaten a crap Utd team, Liverpool who had 9 men and a goal disallowed, Luton, Palace, Burnley, Sheff Utd, Bournemouth and Fulham. We made hard work of some of these wins vs poorer sides as well.

The football is better and we need to back the manager. I’m just not ready to say we’re definitively better personally. Others are - that’s fine!

What players would people like him to send on? Sincere question.

The team’s going to be fine. We go again. Did people think losing maybe our best ever player would be easy?

I think we're all in agreement that the signs of progress are there. If our results were the same but spread out instead of being a complete boom-bust (unbeaten opening 10 matches to be top of the league and then 4 losses in the next 5) then being 5th and 3 points off City would be brilliant.

The problem now is we've fallen off due to much of our own mistakes. Really poor goals to concede. We aren't scoring enough goals and we look predictable when chasing a goal. Ange's style of football is really fun when we start matches and get the first goal but we're not killing opponents off. Burnley aside we haven't given anyone a hiding yet.

I mean in the last few years when we threw away leads it was mainly through sitting back after scoring and inviting pressure. It was a waste of having Kane and Son in the team to play on the counter.

These leads we're giving up now (besides the Wolves game where we didn't create another good chance at 1-0) came against the run of play. We're not reacting well but the conceding of an equaliser feels a shock rather than deserved.

My bigger concern is when the scores are level we aren't looking like we have another gear to go into. There's no added urgency or a jolt to get a move on. I think Maddison is a huge loss because even minus his goals and assists, he plays quickly and direct.

So does Bentancur, he's another huge loss for us as we're lacking football intelligence.

It really isn’t coincidence that the boom bust aligns with losing Romero, Bentancur, Maddison and Micky. I’d be more worried if we were erratic.

not when the owner decided to take the money when he did- and didn’t buy a replacement

We will have squandered another season as a consequence of this, and not buying another quality cb

We can all see the issues playing against a low block

v Sheff Utd at home even with our best team out there.

I have faith in Ange that he will sort that out in time.

But he needs quality personnel in

Ange said in his post-match interview that we lost because we failed to score enough goals in the 1st half and then conceded easy goals in the second half. A good 1st half performance would have been 3-0 up with the chances we had.

We didn't score enough because we lacked conviction; he emphasized that we need to be winning games not just playing nice stuff.

Ange basically defined what 'Spursy' meant to the press.
We dont believe enough that we can win it.

I really think it's gone under the radar how big of a blow the injury to Perisic was and how that ripped up Ange's pan for our forward line.

I just made this point on another thread. This and also maintaining greater width with more attacking the box

Look, he needs time. However its frustrating to see us throw away another game. Completely complacent from about 30 minutes onwards.

Was disappointed they didn't come out in the second half looking like they had the bollocking I thought they deserved but at some point they have to stop being carried by Ange and do the hard work themselves.
