Sanchez doesn't help us IMO, he was shocking on the ball and made countless mistakes, so I'm not against selling him when we did, we should have brought someone else in though, as we knew even if we couldn't sell him, that both he and Dier would be off in, at most, a year later.Selling Sanchez after we knew we couldn't replace him was absolute fucking madness. Whether you agree with the decisions he's made or not, the fact is that Ange has no good options at the moment.
Dier is woefully ill-suited to this tactical setup, and although I agree with the calls to bring Phillips or Dorrington into the team, I can also understand why Ange has been reluctant to do so. We are unbelievably open without VdV/Romero, and a teenage defender can have his confidence absolutely shattered by coming into a side that is leaking goals. It's not as risky to play inexperienced players in other positions, so I'm not sure that the youngsters that the likes of Newcastle and Brighton have used are apples-to-apples comparisons. We still need a change, but we're playing with these young lads' futures by throwing them into the deep end.
The worst part of the whole situation is that we left ourselves massively short in order to save a few quid, and in the end it may cost us loads of points and not save us anything at all. If you were the chairman of Genoa or Nice, would you not tack £10m onto the asking price for Dragusin or Todibo? We've gone five matches and collected not a single fucking point without our only two senior CBs that suit Ange's footbal. We've left ourselves utterly fucking desperate, it's hard to imagine that selling clubs won't take full advantage.
The whole thing is a fucking shambles.
We took a chance on the CB situation but unfortunately, the worse case scenario has happened.
