Top post. One thing, though. I'm not so sure people aren't appreciating what Eriksen does do? I think it's more of a case that they feel he could perhaps do more?

I think Eriksen is a cracking little player BUT he doesn't appear to be at the same level he was last season. Is that fair comment?
Dunno mate, calling someone a pussy isn't appreciating the other facets to their game I'd say! :ROFLMAO: (
I'm not trying to suggest you have called him such of course.)

Obviously it's fine to criticise our players when it's sensible it just seems that some see only the negative?

As for the man himself, I'm really hopeful that Pritchard might be a real kick up the arse for Eriksen who sometimes seems a little bit too comfortable?

He's over-training. No surprise his from flagged in the final 3rd of last season. Give him another weeks break with only light training, he'll be back firing

Re the bold bit, couldn't agree more, and that's why I responded with "Easy, John Rambo" to one pleasant individual who did exactly as you say. No need whatsoever for that sort of insult!!

As for Pritchard, I think there's a few of us who are hoping that he acts as a much needed kick up the backside for Eriksen. If it doesn't, I guess Eriksen will most likely get the chance to watch Pritchard, from the comfort of the bench .

Personally i think hes playing at the same level since he joined us, just everyone around him has got better so he doesnt stand out like he once did/his inefficiencies are highlighted more.

i always feel despite eriksen at times bottling things or going missing i feel we sometime notice him more when hes subbed off,by that i mean we lose control on the game.

Great little player, could do with a goal but still nailed on starter - he's been more conspicuous with match winning performances in the past but hasn't done an awful lot wrong

just saying

I think he, and we are better with him in the ACM/10 position, but I think he's been having a good season so far and has been quietly more influential than he gets credit for, possibly because Alli taking a lot of plaudits right now for eye catching moments. Without a real metronomic ball player in CM most weeks this season, Eriksen has taken that role, dropping picking up the ball and playing the more progressive or approach building passes. It's sometimes just little give and go stuff, but he sees more ball than anyone else in our front four and is the conduit between the midfield and attack more often than not.

Playing him right is tactically poor IMO, which Pochettino has done a couple of times lately, but I think he's a far more integral part of our team than he's been getting credit for of late.

I still don't understand why so many on SC dislike and attack him,.... but there you go :stop::ninja::mask:

<bring back the shrugging smilie>
I don't think Spurs fans dislike him. It is just that they expect more from him, which may be unfair. I think a lot of us expect him to be a leader in our side.

He started his Spurs career so well that we forget how young he is. A lot of our other players have come from nowhere, but Eriksen is still a massively important part of our team. I think Poch realises this as well

I don't think he attracts the outright hatred that Lamela gets, its more utter frustration from a contingent who don't quite see what he does during the whole game and not just the money shot moments that Alli, Lamela and Kane have had more of recently.

Having said that he is not a tyro in the oppo's final third like Kane, Alli and Lamela with their manic pressing and closing down. I don't think you are going to get that from Eriksen but he does a good job of reading the game and closing down the channels. He just does it more quietly then most. Plus as some others have said here, he has spent more time this season playing deeper and picking up the ball in CM and quietly starting moves in our half.

Eriksen is a key player to how we play. He may not be the all-round action man that Dele Alli is, but that's not his style. He roams around finding pockets of space to keep the ball moving as others move into more dangerous areas around him. By and large, he does this well.

My biggest frustration with Eriksen is that, in most cases, his corners are terrible. Especially over the past couple of months. I understand he's trying to drop the ball at the near post for players to attack, but the sheer amount that barely get off the floor is staggering. In games where we're chasing, like yesterday, he needs to be smarter and look to drop it more central.

Played a great first half yesterday.
Have a feeling he will be a very important player for us in the years to come.

Perhaps somewhat Modric-esque?

By that I mean, the goals & assists aren't wracking up, but he's sort of the tick to our tock, the guy who assists the assister, type of thing?

He started very strongly yesterday, getting into numerous goal scoring positions. Faded slightly but he contributes a lot to our overall play, a lot of which goes unnoticed.
