Awful today. Didn't fight at all. His set pieces, shots and crosses have really gone down hill this season. He simply doesn't seem to kick the ball well anymore.

I agree but i think we tend to evaluate based, on the whole, the now. Its always easier to look at players like payet and mahrez and draw comparisons. I wonder if the chelsea fans are doing the same with hazard and oscar. It would be nice to re visit this convo next season to see how things have moved on and whether we are still looking at payet and mahrez in the same way ( i do really like them both).

I agree about the crossroads and he needs competition but i dont think that should cloud how on the whole he has played a part in our season and how effective he can be. I wouldnt want to lose that.

Btw im prob on my own here but i would probably take oscar.

Not on your own there. I'd take him in a heartbeat

He is frustrating that's for sure. Not one for when the going gets tough.

The thing is when he's shit, he's shit and offers nothing. So many times this season I've being crying for Alli to be taken off due to playing terribly, but he has it in his locker to pop up with a goal or turn the game with an assist or a piece of skill.

That said I don't think we'd anywhere near as good without him in the first 11. And thinking about it take man city away, Eriksen was poor that day but got a goal. Ahhhh I dunno!! You sort of never know where you are with him!

What a total contradictory post I've just written!

Poor overly defensive response as expected.

I never said it was hence why i said over the course of the season he has contributed to us achieving third. And more so than son. I also highlighted the poor form of dembele previously and also highlighted patches of poor form for eriksen. I also agreed it would be useful to bring someone in to keep him on his toes. So you could argue i was agreeing with you to some extent but trying to dilute it with some sense..if upgrade means sell that is.

Lol. You made out that I was implying we should sell anyone that has a bad game or two when it's been well documented that I've had my criticisms of Eriksen for a long time. Bringing direct competition in for him may well be the answer, I just think that he is not CL quality and we need someone else for next season despite the odd moments of magic.

100%

It's a shame we can't combine Eriksen's ability and Lamela's attitude.
To be honest, as much as I like both, I believe we can upgrade on them. Crazy as that might sound to some.

To me, our untouchables are -
Hugo, Toby, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Alli and Kane.
The others, as good as they are in some cases, can be improved upon.

As much as I like dier, it's not impossible to upgrade/competition for him also.
For me we need a new striker, a strong cm and a creative player.
I say get the best we can afford and let them fight it out for places

Imbula has impressed me. Obviously missed the boat with him but I remember when we smashed Stoke, they performed similar to how we did today, on the beach, not interested etc, but he stood out. He was fighting until the end and gave Dembele a battle. I think he'll be some player next season.

I really like Eriksen as a player and I think at times he has been vital for us. Having said that I fear for him now - I would not be surprised if he is one of the players Poch looks to ship out this summer - I would be disappointed if this happened but I would understand it.

He is such a talented player but I'm now questioning his mentality - I hope I'm wrong but I can see Poch moving him on.

One of the things levelled at him over his career is his mentality. Too relaxed and casual. Typical Spurs player really.

I would hate to sell him because he is one of our most technically gifted players, but there is a flaw there for sure.

You look at VDV for instance ( who is a similar type player) and see the difference in mentality.
