I'm almost certain that it's a typo and the poster meant to say we haven't spent zillions of pounds. In the context of what he's saying it makes much more sense.

We did bring £77 million worth of players off of the bench, to be fair to them.

EDIT: Our starting elven cost only £94 million, though.

Perhaps he's just referring to the 'good manager' bit ?
What I do know is with the world's leading grammar analysts active on this thread I trust we'll get to the bottom of it.
I think this one requires the assistance of Nick Gibb MP.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Very magnanimous.

Interesting though that despite our net spend (ahem) over such a prolonged period so many fans still have this perception of us as having spent zillions of pounds. Unless, of course, he actually meant we were like Citeh in being like a cat toying with a mouse, but it doesn't read like that.
I can only imagine that they don't notice the sale of the squad players for what is pretty decent money.

Stoke forum before, during and after the game:

It does feel a bit different to April though. They were flying then, and they certainly aren't now. Looks like this is Dembele's final game of his ban, and that Dier-Wanyama pairing doesn't seem as scary. Davies for Rose is a big, big downgrade in an area they really hurt us last year - and Kane maybe looks a bit low on confidence. I've seen 2 of their games and they look nothing like they did at their peak last season. I'd probably still take a draw now though!

Would take a draw but feeling optimistic about this one. Queue inevitable embarrassing defeat....

Now the window is shut we have our team for half a season. Forget the last three games. Our season starts today. I'm looking forward with faith. We have a talented squad.

Got a feeling we are going to win this

I don't know what Adam has to do to get a start. He's one of our few game changers.

Kick off

Positive start

We look like a football team! Only needed a menacing CF.

Putting them under well

Just need a goal for how well we are playing at the moment.

Capitalise on this start Stoke don't get done by a fucking sucker punch.

Spurs are dirty croggers

Spurs flying in with tackles/fouls and no cards Whelan pulls a player back and straight in the book??

Our early fire is being extinguished

We look terrible at the moment.

Here we go again crap ref (booked Arnautovich for blatant dive)

Ref lost control of the game

Seems like they have had enough of Stoke at the top table. Was it a dive? Or was it a foul or just an accident didn't see it

They really have it in for us don't they....
Spurs player dives against Whelan, they get a free kick.
Stoke player gets fouled, play on. Then Arnie dives, yellow card.

1-0

Fuckin typical.

Ali starting to run things.

Half Time:

Don't understand the negativity. Think it's a very even game here and we dont deserve to be one down. Wring out your nappies and grow a pair.

Joe Allen is the only positive coming from that first half. Fucking season is a disaster waiting to happen.

The ref is in Spurs' pocket.

What has Charlie Adam done wrong? In a team that creates full all its a travesty that hes not playing

I think the game is delicately balanced but we are crying out for pace.

Second half

Still hopeful for a 2-1 turn around for us.

Why wasn't that a second yellow for Wanyama?

Anthony Taylor you fucking bollockless little ****. Get hit by a van.

Fucking rancid referee

2-0

Game over.

2-0 deep breaths...

4 games in..........no wins! Hughes Out!

Let's see if we can help Harry Kane now cos he hasn't scored for a bit.

55 minutes and game over at home. We cant score 1 never mind 2 goals

fucking football. I fucking hate it.

I want Adam on to maim some of these Spurs players

3-0

Embarrassing. Worst team I've seen in a long time

3-0. very deep breaths...

Houston, we have a problem.

Butland saves all 3 so far for me

Spurs arent even playing to their best. Kane hasnt had a touch and basically hasnt needed to.

What next?

4-0

There is Kane's gift

This just isn't even funny anymore.

If he was playing for England he would have missed it. ****

It's genuinely a surprise when they attack and don't score.

The most worrying part of this game is that Spur's haven't been very good.

Enough's enough. Hughes out

They are literally toying with our midfield. Fucking laughable.

Full Time

Thank god that's over

We look like Villa at the moment.

Could be worse. We could be West Ham.
Every cloud and all that :)

Maybe, but it doesn't read that way at all.

Like I said, if he meant that we were like Citeh in being like a cat toying with a mouse - and just constructed the sentence poorly, it might make sense that he meant we haven't spent zillions. But we do spend quite a lot of money, a lot of opposition fans are aware of that, but they fail to weigh up the money spent with money in through sales. I've seen/heard plenty of them say similar things. They think we spend money like Citeh for this very reason. So it actually makes more sense for him to be operating under this misapprehension than it does for it just to be a typo saying we haven't spent zillions and also part of a horribly mangled sentence.

Remember, we are talking about the foul speech of Mordor, here :)

Few from The Rawkites

At 1-0
Spurs` routine 1-0, 2-0 victories are so annoying.

I think it means we are just good?

2-0
Son of a gun.

Top finish that

Fuck I'm starting to hate Spurs

Hate the club but Pocchetino is a quality coach and a very likable person.

Just can't stand them .

Another year of people crying about Spurs.

Good to know some things never change on RAWK.
wink.gif

Will probably be a single position above or below us, so I suppose its fair enough people are disappointed to see them winning.

4-0
Fucking hell Stoke. Even Harry Kane is scoring now

Spurs are such a good side.

We have our work cut out this season, getting 4th will be extremely tough.

Thankfully they have CL footy to take their eye off the league.

Didn't look that great when we played them. Man up

What was the result in the end?

I meant that more as they have a solid team, yet every year there is so much concern over them winning like they are doing it out of thin air.

They have a good team, no doubt there. And good teams are expected to win. Although they've yet to show much for it!

We take the piss out of Spurs but it's about time we started consistently finishing above them in the league. It's a joke, they aren't a big club!

Ye I mean once in 7 seasons really isn't consistent enough right?

And then, some actual sense
Spurs aren't a big club? Could you be any more deluded?

You do realise Spurs are about to break the attendance record for a British club in the CL with 80,000 in four days time?

Tottenham have some decent options off the bench now. Janssen, Lamela and Sissoko all started on the bench today. They still have N'Koudou to introduce as the season progresses too

Stopped reading then as it became a bit of my dick is bigger than yours debate.

On a redcafe a thread called 'Do people actually rate Dembele#

bosnian_red
He is a good player but Spurs is his level. You won't see United/City/Arsenal/Chelsea/Bayern/Madrid/Juve go after him. Same with Erikson and Lamela and a few others in that spurs team. Glaston incredibly overrates him

You're starting Fellaini and Lingard in a Manchester derby, ****.

Lamela, Eriksen and Dembele are 10x the player of those mentioned.

Wildy, wildy, overrated
on here. And not just now, it's been the case from his Fulham days as well.

Those two posts sum up man utd's fans arrogance, insular attitude and knowledge of football to a tee.

To be fair as they are outsiders looking in I can understand their comments about Dembele, last season is the only time when someone could say that one of the clubs mentioned by the poster could go in for him. This is a massive season for Dembele, he will get the chance to showcase his skills at the highest level and show himself to be a consistent performer.

Yeah I agree about dembele. It is a massive season for him to live up to the hype he generated last season amongst us fans and responsibility he will now have on his shoulders. I just hope he can start this season with the form he had last year and not the previous year's (minus the Sandro partnership season when he was solid in the main) as a player with us.

I used to be so disappointed by him not fulfilling his talent and being so inconsistent so if he can keep that form from last season into this then I'll be very impressed with him. I just hope that if he doesn't that people don't get on his back. I've never been his biggest fan from previous years but he needs to have the backing from the stands else I think he might not be able to keep up last season's high standard he began to set.

Dambele takes the ball, holds the ball, moves forward with the ball and passes the ball and he does all of those things well, what he doesn't do is any of those things on the run with pace, running at the opposition defence isn't his game and so your pulse doesn't quicken when he is on the ball.
That is why other fans miss his qualities they don't get it, you wouldn't get it on a youtube viewbite but week in week out we see him play and that's why we do get it.

I'm not surprise at all by the United plastic fans' comments, cos they can't even appreciate their midfielders of those that really matters.. They are only harping on #pogbaback as a testament to the size of their club, not knowing countless others are laughing so hard..

I guess we would call it the Carrick syndrome. He does so much more and with subtlety that most miss how important he is and what he can do.

Soooooooooo...our opponents...they're saying stuff. Albeit in french and badly translated...make sure you're sober when you read this:

Comeback in Champions League friends!

One begins to White Hart Lane where we had taken last December 4-1 in the Europa League.

The Champions League is successful we generally better but it's heavy ahead and they are "On Fire", 4-0 victory tonight in the field of Stoke.

We begin to actually Wembley
default_tongue.gif

(in reply) - No round of observation .... live in the deep!

It will be a big game with two teams that arrive in shape.

Do not over pack after these very good results, a draw would be a very good operation already.

the intensity that put the English it's still hot to compete.

c'est ca makes me most afraid.

Exact ! Europe is another level even if it remains the first match ...

I died Canal + who fucks a Vagner Love image for the trailer of the game
default_icon26.gif

D saw a mental point c is different already.

It'll be a wenbley English more. The we will go into it.

I hope to hear the song "we're at home" Wednesday night.
default_guy.gif

It'll be hot. tottenham like monopolize the ball and then attack through the wings. So good block with wings Dirar Raggi and dembele lemar (recovered well) to mileu Baka muti fab and attack Germain. De Sanctis, I not too Sanctis. ridiculous goal against Lille on Badia more

They say this about our Harry...

Given the little he had against us last year, it not really care. And facing real defenses, he shows his true level: a goat. The biggest

imposture years after 2010 it ..

A draw would be a good result, to be hoped that after the bayer is still traumatized
default_icon_mrgreen.gif
, and if we win 2 game against his Moscow should, for me its still above tottenham

A hold-up would be welcome, all points are good to take.

Must not believe that the matches against Leverkusen and CSKA will be parts of pleasures, including amha Russia.

I would already be happy if it brings zero Wembley.

ca will anyway be damn stiff out of the group ... the 3rd goes europa is that?
default_smiley.gif

It'll really complicated, but I know you will be, but I have total confidence in our players and Jardim. So I clearly do not expect a wanking like last year.

I already have the stress rise
default_icon_mrgreen.gif

I see Jardim renew a system similar to that used against Paris (5-3-2 in defensive phase / 4-4-2 offensive phase).

By cons, there are a bunch of questions before this match: Mendy and Suba will they be ready? What doublet before? Who left of center? If Falcao Germain before, what about Silva?

Pressed to be Wednesday night to see what we have concocted.

So anyone any clearer as to what our opponents fans are saying about us??? I do love Google's auto-translate though :D
