You clearly don't understand the point i was making.
Sorry mate, I should have edited it to make it look like I was only responding to the first couple of sentences. I agree with you on the rest. It's only natural to have favourites and preferences when it comes to players.

No worries mate, I get that he works hard, closes people down etc. Thing is some might like to see him tackle more for instance, and for them it lets his game down.

*this is just a hypothetical point that I'm making to emphasise different people look for different qualities in players.

The problem is, some posters like to get in early and back players like Winks and Wimmer and declare they're going to be great without much evidence. It also works the other way round with some people declaring a certain player will be shit of course. Then if it comes off they win internet points and make it look like they know more about football than they really do.

That's all well and good but you then have the problem of them going out of their way to shit on other players getting in the way of their predictions. They'll also be rude and condescending to anyone questioning their view without giving a good counter argument (because they don't actually know much so have to revert to insults). Hence the comments on Eriksen and Verts.

One of two things will eventually happen. Their guess will come true and they get to post comments such as "I was saying back in ***** and got neg repped.." or it will become obvious they're making themselves look stupid and will stop posting on the subject and let their comments fall off the radar.

One of the first names on the team sheet for me.
(Along with several others)
Absolute workhorse but with with pedigree.
Spurs and Christian threw off the flat track bully reputation last night.
It's a team game with several differing elements.
A team of Wanyamas would get nowhere.
Eriksen does what Wanyama can't and vice versa.
Together they make an effective unit.
I'm with Poch on this one.

Back to his best. It's no coincidence that we've improved attacking wise at the same time that he's got his game together.

Wonder if the current shape of the team suits Eriksen's game more having wing backs and three at back rather than being in a more rigid 4-2-3-1.

Is giving us more width and we are still pretty solid defensively with Dier, Vertonghen and Alderweireld at the back.

Well, you said he was "a total weakling and a bottler" and you would have dropped him for this game. You were proved wrong. At least with your post above, you're trying to make an effort. But, still, when you say, "I think his personality type is not best suited to this league" how on earth did he manage to make such an impact on today's game against the league leaders? In the most competitive game we've had all season?
How was I proved wrong? He didn't display strength and bravery per se. He played well overall and came up with two quality balls; probably the best he's produced this season.

You're assuming my starting selection would not have helped us beat chelsea. We'll never know, but I believe it would have. Eriksen was on the bench, he wasn't out of the team.

The key is I didn't expect such a level of cohesion between ALL our players. If I could have trusted in that before kick-off I may have included him from the off in my selection.

Yes. He seems to have/play with more freedom.

Lovely combining with Walker as well.
On the whole, yeah, some good stuff. A few occasions he could have sent Walker down the line into space but chose to go inside instead and a couple of times Walker passed to Chris and then stood still when a 1-2 was on to get in behind if he had made a dash after the pass.

That's the kind of thing I want to see become automatic in our final third play. I think we miss too many excellent opportunities to get in behind teams and cause havoc.

We often show reluctance and come back inside. Walker has improved on that this season, but still has an annoying habit of pulling up, which halts momentum of the attack and pulls up the runners who were making their way towards the box.

Good signs of an understanding developing between them though in that shape.

@th has arrived.

Let me guess your little Winksy-boy was your CLEAR MOTM?

Your comments on here is laughable and clueless - and has been for a very long time. It's kinda getting annoying, when people with no football knowledge is trying to be smart. If your arguments was any sensible I could accept that, but they're not.

He's our little Winksey boy.

Starting to love Eriksen a bit again now. He's getting himself involved in the general play a lot more, shooting more and looking more of a goal threat. Before (at least for me) he was a bit of a player in which you'd only really notice his importance once he was vacant from the team but now it couldn't be any more clear of what we'd me miss if he wasn't present.

He was easy to criticise.. I love doing that to him a few weeks ago.. Pussy of a player..

But past few games he was phenomenal.. He improves from the setback of a bad and invisible player he was and delivered some great assists.. Continuing to criticise him will not be fair anymore.. He handed us chances to convert and won us games indirectly.. Cut him some slack ffs.. TBF he is not even hitting top form yet, just like the team as a whole.. Just imagine if he does..

He plays fantastic in formation of 3 defenders at the back for us IMO.. With the wingback pushing up, he stayed back abit he has more spaces for him to see.. Give him space he will have the confidence to do damages..

And I fucking love his striking of the ball.. Pacy and powerful for a player his size..

He is by far the most technical proficient player in the squad. That much was apparent whether he was in form or not.

The key thing is he is influencing the game more now and something seems to have switched on again in his head. Maybe it's just the change of formation or maybe behind the talent there is a player who still lacks confidence. Either way, his biggest problem has and always will be his apparent passiveness, which often translates to him being far too casual when given an opportunity to play team mates in.

Hopefully he's got his mojo back for the remainder of the season.

For some reason Eriksen seems to be judged as if he's the finished article. We don't tend to think of him as a player who's still growing. As if the way he is now is the best he can be. But of course Poch is right here:

Christian Eriksen can still reach another level, says Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...level-says-tottenham-boss-mauricio-pochettino

There's still more room for improvement that'd take him - yes - up a level to compete with the best AM's in Europe.

Eriksen is the kind of player that the fans who constantly put him down and overly scrutinise his game and pick out constant faults would absolutely yearn for if he was playing for another team.
