So what do you believe is causing it? What are we doing different from last season?

I think the difference between us and Chelsea last year was that their midfield was better - more effective - better transitioning - than ours, and ManU or ManC will win the league this year because theirs is better. We are well coached, have a good collective ethos, had the best defence (and that's all players not just defenders) and some of the most productive attackers, but we do not transition quickly. We grind teams down, stay solid and hope that attackers deliver, which they did.

If we want to evolve that next 10%, we have to be the best in midfield too.

That is totally unfounded. We had our best ever season without him.

He's played just 80 games since 2013, hardly a great loss.
Last season we were rampant.. This season I'm very very sure opponents will try all ways to press us and deny us space after learning how that will work against us.. Lamela, together with Son, are the two most intelligent runners off-the-ball.. They are always useful in such matches to create spaces from their runnings.. Like a Robbie Keane in his prime, we will be fantastic to watch.. Definitely better than now.. If we can get that space behind unlocked, we will score no doubt

Dier and Dembele together don't work in a CM2 against this type of opposition regardless of which stadium we are playing in.

Seems Wembley is now a convenient excuse...

I'm not sure about that. No doubt a far superior cross, but Walker created space and overloads far more effectively.

It's not a maybe, Trippier factually created more than Walker for us last year in a 3rd of the time on the pitch.

There was plenty of games last season where the opposition sat back and tried to cancel us out, the difference being that we actually made these teams wilt under the pressure and showed a real strong mentality. We need to raise to that level this second half otherwise this Wembley debate is only gunna get worse and if they aren't already the players will start to buy into it.

I think we all know it but Salah / Mane are exactly the sort of players we must sign before the transfer window closes, I will not be happy with just Barckley and defenders / prospects
Needing those sorts is nothing new for us but we either won't pay the fee or the wages the someone who will comes in and pays it. I mean I'm delighted with Davinson but similar could of had a lacazzette. Not saying he would of come and sure the wages are more but we need options up front. Barkley and 1 more decent established wing/am is what is needed, might be too late for the title by the time we do it. :-(

What we are desperately crying out for is a midfielder (or two) who can ping the ball when a pass is actually on, not have to send it via three team mates for extra security. And Alli holding the ball and playing it to a team mate would help too.

Dembele and Dier, agree 100%
