I can remember many games where we've sat back and protected leads, there's been many games where we've been under the cosh and constantly repelled attacks. The bolded part is exactly my point, have a look at where our midfielders and defenders are when Burnley go on the attack, midfield is non existent and our defensive line is too high. There's a post from @Bus-Conductor where he's screen grabbed the defensive positioning in the ratings thread, that's a result of us pushing up and not seeing the match out like we should have done.
And I remember loads of games we were sat back in the last 20 minutes, gave up chances and conceded goals. If Davies hadn't given Brady all day to pass the ball and prevented him from easily getting the ball onto his stronger left foot the ball wouldn't have been played. If Trippier defended properly instead of doing whatever the fuck it was the goal would have been stopped. A lack of basic defending skills left them score

Where do you expect of defensive line to be when their keeper has the ball in his six yard box?

I don't expect our defense to be that high if there's no pressure on the ball and I expect our midfielders to form some sort of coherent shape with a bank to protect the defenders. A lack of basic defending skills is one thing but our defensive shape was poor considering the stage of the match where we should have just put a couple of banks across the pitch.

I think people are focusing too much on the immediate run-up to the equaliser. It's the usual "who's to blame?" reflex. The whole team was to blame, because the tactics adopted in the last 10 minutes were panicky and wrong-headed.

We had proved, throughout the match, that when we had the run of the loose ball, we could retain possession against Burnley in conservative areas of the pitch virtually indefinitely. That applied nearly as much when they came out to challenge for it as it did when they retreated and played 10 behind the ball.

For some reason, after our sequence of four quick chances to score a second goal had come to nothing, instead of looking at the clock and thinking, "OK, it isn't running for us, let's cool things down", we started banging the ball up. Four times, Lloris punted the ball upfield and it ran directly to the Burnley goalkeeper. Another three or four times, Lloris or Alderweireld tried to bypass midfield, but Kane or Dier was unable to win the header and direct it to a teammate. So the ball kept ending up with Burnley in midfield, with their attacking players still advanced and poised to attack. I expect they couldn't believe their luck. We could have starved them of possession, but instead we kept delivering them the ball without having forced them back first.

One of their attacks worked and we drew the match instead of winning it, but that wasn't really all there was to it. Through panic and recklessness, we gave them multiple chances to attack when we could have shut the game down.

Trippier's lack of awareness here is quite staggering.

Our midfield becomes shapeless defensively in the last twenty minutes of matches no mater if we defend high or deep. I don't know if it's laziness or tiredness but it's been a problem for a while. It was better last year, but that was probably a result of us scoring late/trying to get late goals in the first half of the season and scoring loads in the second half or the season.

The shape is fine if our full-backs do their jobs. If Trippier did his job there he easily intercepts the ball. Don't know what the hell he was doing back pedalling towards the sideline. And again Davies does a poor job of closing down and/or showing a player onto his weaker foot, something he's often guilty at and he already got a warning about 10 minutes earlier.

If we can't stop the ball going 100 yards in three passes then we might as well give up.

Really disappointed that we didnt win yesterday. We didnt play very well, specially in first half.
The fact that we are not able to kill the game of(with the huge chances in second half) or atleast secure the 3 points, makes me worried.
Get Aurier in. Get Barkley in.
I have no time for the "wembley myth" nonsense. Just need to get our shit togehter. And trippier needs to start using his head.

Do you think we'll just stroll out and it will be like WHL ? Every team that turns up is playing at wembley, so weve got 19 cup finals this year against teams that are itching to play us at wembley. There's no myth, but even getting our shit together will not fix our home games this year. I would go on record now and say were more likely to win more away than at home this year.

We've already dropped more points at Wembley than we did in the whole of last season at WHL. Let that sink in...

We were never going to repeat what we did at WHL, our form their was exceptional - something like the 3rd best ever home record since the Premiership's inception.

Our home form in the 2015/16 season was won 10, drew 6 lost 3 so...
