@Phomesy I'm assuming the disagree was a mistake or fat fingers :)

I don't care about ratings in the slightest, but if it wasn't a mistake I'd love to know why you disagree.

Queue the post that gets as many disagrees as the rest of my decade+ here put together. Should have seen that coming. Fair play.

In all seriousness I only gave the original disagree my attention because of the content of that post. It would have been an odd thing to disagree with, that's all.

He chats absolute shit. The irony of him slating the experienced players for not leading by example when he’s taken a ten year old along with him and uses language like that in front of the kid. Guy is an utter moron and I hope he chokes on that street slang bull shit. Yunnerstan!

Damn fam, I was checkin the world map like for Yunnerstan.

Disagree isn't a neg, it's neutral. (Not that you care about ratings eh ;))

To be fair you deserve a bit of a negging for opening with "Queue.." rather than "Cue.."

Welcome to the big leagues of the What Our Opponents' Fans Are Saying About Us thread, mofo.

Welcome to the big leagues of the What Our Opponents' Fans Are Saying About Us thread, mofo.

Funnily enough I realised that a while ago, but thought I'd test whether the true purpose of this thread was up to scratch. Congrats.

Are they talking about us?
Indeed. Maybe we need to have a thread that is simply titled, "what opponents fans are saying", because it seems some people are in capable of realising this thread is "what opponents fans are saying about us"

I heard a newport countys fans riposte to harry kane walking on water was to say turds float....
newport who? Aside from the spelling mistake, can anyone name their ground? or anyone in their first 11?
I thought last time we played them we battered them 4-0. I hope Harry gets a hat-trick there, and gives them another 50 years to dream about when Spurs went to play them.

I suspect that newport fan also supports another team and that is why he/she doesn't like us. Getting into a slagging match with newport fans is a bit petty.

Yeah lets make fun of how much smaller Newport are than us. That'll show the world what a big club we are.

So had a quick check on the Newport FC unofficial forum. Possibly expectedly the main discussion is about the money the club can generate from the match rather than tactics or team selection.

http://www.weareexiles.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45491

The main thread is asking how much they would be willing to pay for a ticket. Most are saying £30-35

https://www.newport-county.co.uk/tickets/match-tickets/

A quick checks shows they normally charge around £20 for a seat in a league game. Their ground capacity is 7,500.

A couple of choice posts:

Hopefully the club will not just look to attract fans who can afford to pay the most for this game.
There is a balance - the young fans who saw the County beat Leeds and could put many hundreds of match day payments back into the club; similarly those that see the Spurs.

Those Pensioners who have followed the County all their life also deserve a 'return'.

Agreed, there is a balance to be found here.

An FA Cup run is about more than making the club money surely? I would pay £30 through gritted teeth but I don't think I'd pay any more out of principle, sounds daft but it just doesn't seem right to me.

REGARDING THEIR CAPACITY

7850 for football
8700 for rugby

In theory the difference is supposed to be the segregation for football, but that's only about 10 seats wide and the depth of the Bisley, which is 11 rows, so that's only about 110 seats. Guessing the rest is "safe terrace capacity".

Trouble is without a new safety certificate we're not getting any more in the ground, and the closure behind the dugouts also needs to be considered.

The club will only get 45% of any 'increase before taxes so it may not be worth getting too greedy at the margin for the downsides it may bring, but I believe a fans owned/fans saved club and 'community'' will be high in our clubs thinking.

I reckon we could beat them at Rugby because of Big Vic.

(y) I can name the ground and all the first 11.....I was there yesterday.
No need to be charlie big bananas is there?

We're a small club but we're enjoying life at the moment, and believe me there has been very little to celebrate over the last 30 odd years.....relegated to non league in 88, went bust the following season, reformed and started way down the pyramid, got thrown out of our home, played at Moreton in the Marsh followed by Gloucester City, took the FAW to court, then spent the next 20 odd years stuttering up & down the non leagues and most of that time in a half arsed athletics stadium (without a pub anywhere near). Even since we've been back in the football league we've struggled, managing to stay up last season on the final day with a goal in the 89th minute.
Anyway, couldn't have wished for a better draw and it'll be the first time my kids will have watched Spurs!

I hope you manage to get the tickets. Great opportunity for them although I’m sure they’d have loved the draw to be away.

Cheers mate....I sincerely hope I do too!
Away would've been better no doubt but the kids were going mental when the draw was made.
