I can’t remember who it was but one of u ****s said it. “It’s better to have been there than not at all”. Y e we could have played better, yes the starting line up should have been different but ffs we were in a CL Final. I certainly didn’t think we would have gotten there. Don’t get me wrong I’m fucked of with Poch and the team, but I still love th club.

We’re here because of one reason. Pochettino. Back him.

It may fail but we haven’t had it better for over 50 years and it’s time to back him.

Now or never.

Very interesting post mate and from an age and supporting spurs perspective you’re fairly similar to me. I’m in Madrid now and have spent over £1k to get here, to see us concede that dubious unlucky penalty in the first minute and to go on to fight but ultimately lose AGAIN, it is really hard to take. That is mainly because it’s been a long and expensive journey to get to Madrid lots of emotional energy and money invested and yet again when push comes to shove and a trophy is on the line, we lose.

On one hand I see all the positives like the new stadium, training ground and huge progress we’ve made under poch but on the other hand I just can’t see what we are likely to actually win anytime soon. Money has ruined the game and unless we now invest big in the playing squad we will still come up short, this team will now get dismantled bit by bit, Hugo is 30+ an May soon enough look for a new challenge, same with Toby & Jan, Rose May go up north, Wanyama is crocked, Eriksen is off to madrid and if we don’t win something soon then Kane’s head will be turned.

I love supporting spurs and have enjoyed some amazing matches and moments but ultimately supporting us for 30 years have seen us win just two league cups and come up short so very many times, it becomes hard to keep picking yourself up off the floor to be honest but good old spurs keep attracting us back year after year.

Prem: city and lpool are almost unstoppable and I’m sure the other top6 + eve and wolves will improve next year so league is really so unlikely, we should’ve won it the year Leicester did but we weren’t good enough then and when we were good enough Chelsea had a freak incredible season under conte, now city and lpool are miles ahead and I can’t see us pulling off a 100pt season anytime soon.
Fa cup: it’s possible but poch prioritises the league and CL which is why we don’t seem to properly challenge for this
Champions League: only 7 British teams have ever even made it to the final I believe : Celtic forest lpool man.u Chelsea arsenal spurs, if we had a chance it was this season, Madrid Barca Bayern June atheltico city lpool PSG etc etc will all be stronger next season and really can’t see us getting this far again without serious investment.
That leaves the league cup which really will any of even care if we win it, I would as we need to bloody win something but again poch won’t prioritise it so can’t see it happening.

I know we are going places but it just seems no matter how lucky we get or hard we try we just don’t get over the line and to be honest it’s very hard to keep believing.

Probably the fact it’s 3am and it’s been a long boozy day adds to the negativity but honestly without rosetinted glasses on do we really see us Winning anything anytime soon? Not a criticism of us but money has kind of ruined the game really.

It also puts it in perspective how much emotion and energy we put into spurs when perhaps really some other things and people should take more precident, all the best with the pregnancy by the way .

If we are to seriously step up to the next level now we need to improve the following:
Trippier!
CM x2
Dele
Kane back-up

Tough day but COYS.

Am also 30 and like you have never seen Spurs win anything meaningful.

I fear that in years to come we will look back on this as our big opportunity missed - ultimately we didn't turn up on the night and this is something that many of the players will regret for the rest of their lives, particularly Sissoko - who I feel sorry for.

I see a lot of comments here people saying that if we spend like liverpool and plug the gaps, we will be great. There is no guaranetee, if we did spend which is questionable under levy, that those players will be as good as pools or better.

This club has always tried to play catch up and follow other teams since i have been a spursfan. For years, we tried to emulate wenger model but havent quite achieved it (no trophies, no leagues). We need to spend like crazy every year or come up something new ourselves which other teams will want to emulate. following gets you know where but innovation does.

I think this was our big moment and i dont think we will get another like this again for years, if at all.

North london owners care about business first, football second. Those northern clubs want to win trophies first, business second.

We will look back on this with great sadness but at the same time with some fondness.

For me its time Daniel pony up, no postmortem straight to surgery, time to finally deliver a team that Poch wants. No time for sentiment, its time iron out the problems with that squad.

It's of course horrible to lose any final especially the CL it was within our grasp. Liverpool lost last season and came back.

Now it's time to really go again full throttle in the transfer market inns and outs no room for sentiment

I know we had no right to be in a champions league final. I know we have no right to be battling out at the top of the prem. All other clubs in the top 6 have so much more money and resources. We are over achieving just to be in the conversation!
I know all this but still...
Tonight hurt. More than i thought it would. More than it should.
We've achieved so much to be where we are today.
I should be proud. And I am!
But I don't know how to deal with this feeling right now.
How are you all coping?

We had EVERY right to be in that final! We beat City at home, then went on to score 3 at the Etihad, we then beat Ajax in their own yard! Sounds like deserving finalists to me! You're just repeating the media/pundit/scouser bollocks!!! It's time we demanded more from our players, it's time we demanded succes when the opportunity arises!!

Nah, it still doesn't hurt any less this morning.

The Pen changed the way the game was played, at least for Liverpool, it made it far easier for them, I wouldn't mind but they hardly cut us open time and again, they were able to let the game be played in front of them, and we fucking helped them do it.

Too many players were not at the level we have come to expect, we did create, but ultimately it wasn't good enough.

We had enough talent on that pitch last night to over turn being 1-0 after half time and fuck me did we huff and puff.

Now the usual hoohaa of the summer and the TW and people will throw their toys out of the pram when we don't do the business they want. Fucking hell this club.

In reality, we got to the final far too early. I have no doubt that Poch and Levy’s long term plan at the start of the season would have said that we shouldn’t have been getting to CL finals for another 3-4 years.

It’s been a great experience in terms of showing us what we can achieve, and giving us valuable European final experience.

But this was never meant to be our night, or our year. I’m sure of it. It was a lucky and enjoyable fluke which will hopefully have many positive outcomes for years to come.

It’s also shown Pochettino which of his players turn up when it matters, and which don’t. I’ve seen nothing in the last 6 months to suggest the likes of Alli and Eriksen can’t be upgraded, and tonight solidified that for me. I’m sure Poch saw it too.

We’re good. We’re very good. But we’re a few years and a few hundred million quid away from really competing at the moment, and that’s fine.

From here we need to be brave. We need to be unafraid to let players go who have hit their ceiling, and be bold in the transfer market. It’s time to take risks and spend the big bucks when we need to, and be aware that some big money players won’t come good.

We need to meet the asking prices for players like Ndombele, Lo Celso, De Ligt and not have a repeat of the absolute shambles which was the Grealish saga last summer.

The future is very bright but this summer is the most crucial in our history. Levy has to get this right. It’s non-negotiable now. If we don’t, Pool and City will get too far ahead to ever be caught.

As for us fans, we just need to buckle in and enjoy the ride.

We didn't get to the final 'too early', we got there because we deserved to be there!!

Tonight I cried more than I have since the Blackburn final when I was 8 (aside from than the death of my mum). Thanks to all the Spurs fans in the Wanda who consoled me.

It could’ve been so much worse, think of Boca who lost to their arch rivals in the equivalent competition in South America- if it was Arsenal or Chelsea it would’ve been unbearable.

I do believe it’s the start of something. We will win it one day.

COYS
Living in North Wales, believe me losing to Liverpool is my worst nightmare and is unbearable.

This cycle of the team is finished, we need to start again. Sadly for levy that requires serious investment

Or at least effective churn. There are players who we should have shipped out some time ago.

More ins and outs are required this summer than is ideal (small changes definitely preferable) and there’s a lot of execution risk.

Needs to be a big summer or we risk a weak season and a disaffected squad - your point is well made: the team needs major fresh blood

It's pretty obvious, you add a monster RB - AWB, and two plays like Ndombele and Lo Celso to this team and you have a team that can push Liverpool and City, all 50m plus players. But it needs to be done. We can't pussy foot around with 4 x 20m signings etc. We need to go big and have the likes of Dele put under serious pressure and get Trippier as far away from our defense as possible.

Those 3 players alone would improve us no end. Meaning the next Summer we would only really need to start looking at one top top class signing and really putting this team together.

This summer is key. We need to spend circa 200m, if Levy doesn't see this then what's the point of building the stadium or having a manager like Poch if you're going to be a bargain basement team attempting to mix it with Waitrose and Whole Foods? I don't want to celebrate the odd victory against a top 4 team, i want the team, Poch, Kane etc to win things, they deserve to be at the top. Onwards and upwards.

Was Joe Lewis even at the ground tonight?

If Pochettino doesn't get a net spend of £200 million in the Summer, the owners need to go.
We do need at least 4 first teamers of quality in this window. If that equates to a big net spend then so be it, but imo it doesn't matter if we recover some or even most of that through sales. Getting them in is all that matters and al II really care about tbh.

"Net spend" is just a tool the media use to create stories that aren't really there.
