Forgetting stats and purely from an eye test POV I'd say his work rate is extremely good. He presses and runs tirelessly but the one point that's often missed is that his movement is exceptional, world class in fact and that alone should create space and chances for others even if he isn't scoring. Another point about him not always mentioned due to his high profile misses, is that his assist record is pretty good even when he's not scoring. When you look at his goal involvement numbers they are actually pretty good for a forward despite his goal tally being lacking at times.
This point was raised by the Chelsea journalist on the Athletic podcast that I referenced in this thread earlier today.

He took the example of the match winning goal in the CL final against City and how Werner's movement has a big part to play.

Stones has been dragged out of position and Werner makes a run in behind him when Mount has the ball. Dias is frightened of Timo's pace and and leaves his LCB spot to cover the right, which in turn opens up the space for Havertz and Zinchenko doesn't read the situation quick enough to prevent the goal.

Seems like a really good lad as well as good player.

Really excited about this one, think he'll suit Ange's style of football down to the ground, pace, energy etc.

Interesting wording from Ange “He’s come here for his career but he’s also going to help us”.

Sounds like n.o1 motivation for Timo is to play and get back in Germany squad but as a byproduct of that he’s motivated to play well and help us, I suppose we then just see how it goes, if well then we sign him, if not then we don’t.
