Special mention for this guy today, I thought he did great. Worked really hard and some lovely passes , one In the first half was a beaut.
Agree. Big difference today were his contributions forward. Some really good passes and he also hit a couple on the volley.

That through ball hits sonny and it's a goal. Long may this continue.

I don't think he's a bad player. He's tidy on the ball, more mobile than hojbjerg and capable of some nice passes like the one in the first half. Easily a.squad player.

Can’t think of a time he’s played better for us, fair play to him! It’s all about consistency with that play now though. He showed today he can play quick, incisive through balls and get us up the pitch. That’s all that he was missing from being a good squad option. Let’s hope it continues!

Covered a lot of ground and used the ball as well as he could I thought. Great shift from him

Ran his little legs off today. Thought he had a very good performance, pressed like a man possessed and didn’t stop running.

Probably did everything the manager was wanting him to do.

Who'd have thought that after a long time off with injuries, then getting played in a position that's new to him, he'd actually start improving with more game time?
He's a good little player and deserves a lot more credit and understanding than he gets on here.

His progressive play is improving too.
The last time he had a run in the team, he literally got better with every game he played, right up until he got injured, so let's not write him off just yet.

Fully agree, if coaching is gonna improve any player it will be a young one like skipp.

And by all accounts, Skipp is a bit of a student of the game, always willing to learn.
If I remember correctly, when he was out with his weird pubic thing, he was still attending the classroom sessions of training because he wanted to learn the tactical side of things.

I mean, the saying "he's got an old head on young shoulders" couldn't be more apt! 🤣

I disagree with those saying he's not a technical player. Being technical doesn't mean being able to do multiple stepovers or flip flops and chops all over the place. His passing technique is very good - you could see the way he played that volley into Werner his technique was flawless. He can carry the ball in tight spaces as we saw against Man City.

The thing is that he doesn't mess around with the ball. He's very functional in that he wants to move the ball quickly and he doesn't take risks. So if there's a criticism it's that he's a very safe player but then from the number of runs he makes into space and to drag players out of position even though he doesn't receive the pass I can see he's probably a guy that plays the percentages with his passing, tackles and carries.

Additionally, I'll add that he's still young in the sense that he's younger than any of our other midfielders and still has to find his place and role. At the same age, Jordan Henderson was not getting game time at Liverpool and was about to be sold off to Fulham before making a breakthrough and staking a claim in the Liverpool first team (which is considerably weaker than our team is now respectively).

A bit of context and patience

Thought he played well. Seemed to be the one tasked with pressing highest out of him, Bentancur and PEH. Covered a lot of distance, played some good balls, and looked a little sharper on the ball too.

More confident that he has a role at the club, albeit maybe 5th choice cover all bases (which is always needed for a multi-front challenging team)

I think many of us were excited about him after his loan performances in the Championship for Norwich.

Since returning he has been disrupted by injury and sometimes had to play when things weren't going well for the team. He has looked a bit off the required level a few times.

For now I think he's at the level to be our 5th choice central midfielder. He has a skillset that is a bit different to the others so there are some games where he can be useful.

Not ready to give up on him but he needs to step up if he is to have a long term future here. It's not easy to get to the level of Sarr, Bentancur and Bissouma but that's ultimately what he needs to do.
