Wonder what Maupay thinks of their upcoming fixtures, I think they could very well get dragged into a relegation fight.

I won't mind them beating Arsenal & Chelsea by Hook or by Crook but would be nice to see them lose the other 3

A few observations from going to the game.

The shop was teaming with people buying shirt and merch.
light show was incredible. This isn’t just a football stadium anymore.
Still so many Koreans even with Son not there.
Very pedestrian first half. But Timo and Richy looked really up for it
Great Subs
After our first goal, very telling how quickly WE picked the ball up and put it on the spot ready to go again.
great goal by BJ. Another quick attack
Those 8 minutes and 3 goals were incredible to experience.
loved Donley’s cameo including the yellow.
oh. And at one point they had a corner (1st half) and apart from the corner taker EVERYONE was in the 6yard box. Never seen that before. They did it a few times throughout the game.

I did t like Porro’s crossing yesterday. Aimless
Their 10 (Silva?), Was really good
what was the formation when Radu came on and who did he replace?

Thank you. I did all this and more. Can't wait for the next time.
Always love to hear people's first impressions of the stadium, shame it was against Brentford as they disrupt the flow of the game so much (and the ref allowed them to get away with so many petty little things).

Just hope you were back in your seat in time for the 2nd half as some of the guys in my row missed the first two goals as they were having a HT beer :X3:

Impressions from the game (haven't watched back apart from the goals)

  • Nobody wants to take a shot, not sure if this is an instruction to cut down on pot-shots from distance but we were quite easy to defend against because they just got bodies back and stopped us passing through them. Need to start taking a few shots from distance and put something else into defenders minds rather than being too predictable in what we're trying to do.
  • I love Kulu but he's not himself at the moment, not sure if it's a lack of confidence or feeling threatened by Johnson / Werner but he's not as free-flowing & creative as he usually is and seems to be taking too long when he gets into a shooting position.
  • Know I'll get hatred for this but Richey is simply not the answer, yes he scored a goal last night but he doesn't feel like a threat during the game. He doesn't make clever runs to drag defenders out of the way and for a big guy he's not good at find space in the box or attacking the ball in the air.
  • Great result picking up all 3pts but not a great performance, scrappy at times and we lacked creativity / movement off the ball. Everybody seemed to be in their set positions rather than the free-flowing overlapping covering each others spaces that we were so excited about in the first half of the season.

Don't think you will get hate for that part. As good as Richarlison is doing just now, I still feel we need another striker to be ready to play now to compete with him to start.

He works very hard off the call, closing down players causing mistakes from them, and we have scored from a few of these this season, but I still don't fully trust/believe he will score the chances he gets most the time. It's hard, as I have no idea who else we can realistically get in just now to compete, as I don't think the youths are the answer currently for that position.

Even though he was a pain in the arse, I think we played Brentford with Toney at the right time. Despite playing 90 he was puffing out of his arse from about 55 minutes onwards. Missed a couple of very good chances by his standards, and the goal he got was because he couldn't be arsed to get back onside.

Once he's back match sharp I think Brentford will start to pick up more points. Hoping he reaches his 22/23 levels when they play Chelsea and Arsenal.

Second highest scorers in the PL after Liverpool & Man City who are joint first and still we get moans about our attacking players.
If Destiny doesn't gift that 2nd goal to Toney to give Brentford hope , whole end of the match would have had a different feel to it.

Didn't make it to the game last night watched on the tele, went outside half time got back in a bit late so missed the first goal. No problem I thought I'll just run it back and watch the goal so I bloody well missed the second goal😊

Should have kept on doing it, we'd have won 45-1.

It’s also incredible, given the number of goals we have had to replace following the sale of Kane.

As a general point, the likes of Vicario, Udogie, VdV, Dragusin and Sarr are still very young in their positions and this is the first season or first full season playing in this league. We have to expect the occasional error from them all, it comes with the territory of young players learning the ropes in a new league.

And that 15 minute spell at the stat of the second half, if we didn't do that we scored 0 😂.

We could have created a lot more chances, but we seem to lack something in the final 3rd and slow it down all the time, a couple of breaks but didn't pick the quick pass, a lot of side to side passes around their box.

No one's moaning at the amount we score, but the amount of chances we should also be creating/taking also. Need to play those quick one twos or release a player quicker more, not just for that 15 minutes

I’m no tactical genius, but I’d be inclined to switch Skipp for PEH for the nasty bastard side of his game to get amongst them and rattle a few bones, and I’d switch Deki for Brennan, and basically say run at them, tell the midfield to play it simple, balls in behind for the runners to get after. Team talk would be pretty simple, too. ‘Boys, are you really going to let them embarrass you like this in your own home..?’
I live in Australia and watched the replay without knowing score (otherwise no point watching it) or reading the thread. And now Im here having a laugh as usual at the up and down emotional comments and get to read this little gem....

You sell yourself short my friend, as on this ocassion you were a genius 👏 🙌 😉

There seems to be a trend with referees (maybe since one particular game) to have to views on fouls. Brentford seemed to get a free kick every time the went down, including two dives by Collins and Norgaard, yet we had players being wrestled to the ground and kicked from behind with no action taken.

This brings me back to Norgaard. Early yellow, and kept making fouls, with no warning never mind a second yellow. The foul at the end of the game stopping our counter was probably the clearest foul in the game and not given. It's a shame the referees are not held accountable and have to explain the decision. Only he and Norgaard thought it was a good tackle.

Finally there is a law stating that simulation is a bookable offence. Collins going down like he was poleaxed was the worst bit of acting since Cameron Diaz in Gangs of New York. I hear he was subbed early to be home for his bulk delivery of Vagisil,
