Ah no, you see this is where it gets even better...... In nearly all cases they are stuck with them now at least for a few years. If they sell any of them it will be at a much reduced fee to what they paid for them. Meaning that their fees paid are no longer spread over their contracts. For example if they paid 100 mil for a player over 10 years they are only spending 10mil a year as far as ffp is concerned. If they sell that player for 60 mil the following window that's 40 mil straight out of their ffp wiggle room.Brilliant.
I really hope there will be a 'nail in the coffin' in them being able to compete again and they revert back to the club they were before the money.
Hopefully their better players want to leave and others just stay to keep getting their salaries and weigh them down further.
I do wonder if they will get a massive bailout by Saudi teams by way of overpaying for some of their profit players at the last minute. I would not be in the least bit surprised by that. We shall see
This really is an enjoyable read. Thanks for the explanation. This should be glorious to witness.Indeed.
Something else I forgot to say is Chelsea need the money in before the cut off point. Whereas if any buying club is genuinely interested at realistic fee's, unless they are way under the ffp limits as of right now, they will want to wait until after the cut off point so that the spend isn't factored onto this seasons books. Making it even more unlikely they will be able to sell enough to cover their loses in time.
The cynic in me says the will find a way out of it and the best we can hope for is stagnation.Only way out is for Chelsea to hope their Clearlake masters with Saudi cash overpay for players. Then again the likes of Gallagher and Lukaku would have to agree to play in Saudi.
Lukaku insinuated that he would.Only way out is for Chelsea to hope their Clearlake masters with Saudi cash overpay for players. Then again the likes of Gallagher and Lukaku would have to agree to play in Saudi.
Bohly calling all of the Saudi Clubs.Indeed.

Maatsen is another homegrown player they have failed to capitalise on. Brilliant for Kompany's Burnley during their promotion last season, used sparingly under Poch, and has had a great start at Dortmund after joining on loan in January.Wouldn't it just be amazing to see that rotten club get what it finally deserves. Imagine them having to sell all of their homegrown players & try to recoup fees for those on the shorter contracts and then get hit with a points deduction or worse.
I just had a look at their contracts & they have these end dates:
2024 - SILVA
2025 - GALLAGHER, SARR, GILCHRIST, KEPA, MAATSEN, ZIYECH
2026 - BETTINELLI, LUKAKU, BROJA
2027 - STERLING, CHILWELL
2028 - JAMES, CUCURELLA, CHALOBAH, CHUKWUEMEKA
2029 - NKUNKU, COLWILL, DISASI, FOFANA
Paul O’Keefe on the LWOS Podcast said Chelsea have 13 players under contract till 2030.Wouldn't it just be amazing to see that rotten club get what it finally deserves. I haven't gone beyond the 5 year period as realistically they wont be able to sell any of those players and show an FFP Profit so they are stuck with them.
Chelsea will look at that & look to offload Silva & his big wages, try and negotiate some kind of money for Lukaku & Kepa and maybe try and get something for Ziyech. Then their home grown players such as Gallagher, Gilchrist, Maatsen, Chalobah & Colwill will all eventually be up for sale to look at making clean profit on all of them.
However if you were to take out those players:
Silva, Lukaku, Kepa, Ziyech, Gallagher, Gilchrist, Maatsen, Chalobah & Colwill, that might only just get them close to being in line with FFP & yet have no money to buy new players.
They really are in a difficult position, hope to god that their players bought come good & try and get money for any players that teams will buy. However, if any team overpays for one of their players then they are idiots!
I doubt many will want to go to Saudi. They had one year last year where they could get decent players over. Now the appeal has already gone and not many will play there. We're already seeing players want out. That window a year ago was some of the most wreckless spending ever even compared to what the Saudis have done. God I hope they're fucked now. A club with no history can go back to history.Bohly calling all of the Saudi Clubs.
"REV UP THOSE FRYERS"
Let's be honest, they will sell a majority of their players to Saudi clubs they also hold interest in for insanely inflated fees, if Chelsea is the crown jewel for them, it is worth it to take the financial hit in Saudi rather than with Chelsea. I pray that they are screwed but sometimes these clubs are too rich and too big to fail and will get bailed out somehow.
Do you think Poch regrets going there?
He obviously is not choosing the players with the difference in success or failure being in others hands.
Is he happy about possibly ruining his reputation for a bag full of cash?
I think if you were able to turn back te clock he wouldn't have gone there.
