That very much sounds like them handling it poorly.
I just don't think this would be a thing if it were a 45 year old manager, and for all we know Hodgson may well be in the loop on this. I wouldn't be at all surprised if when he left, he left on a mutual agreement with no hard feelings whatsoever.

The board are getting grief at games now, not just Hodgson. Personally think that’s unfair as they’ve been in the PL for about 11 consecutive years which is good for them.
Apparently some of the fans think their US owners aren’t splashing enough cash hence the grumbles.

Short term last seasonHodgson worked but I was surprised they didn’t look elsewhere in the summer. I felt they would struggle this season as they’re too reliant on 2 players, both of whom have been injured.

If Forest & Everton don’t receive points deductions, Palace will be right in the mix so I can’t blame Parish for making a change. Hodgson has always been about keeping it tight, nicking a goal and they haven’t done that for ages so his one trick isn’t working.

Especially as he fell ill during training. Hope it's nothing serious and he can finally enjoy a well deserved retirement.

They've released a follow-up tweet to say he's stable in hospital, one of their journos said he "collapsed" during training.

Needed to happen but fired while in hospital is mad, looks bad for the club and poorly handled in my opinion.

They probably have had him lined up for a few days and this is just bad timing. They tried for McKenna from Ipswich as well.

But Roy should've been relieved of his duties months ago.

As others have said he should have gone last summer. They brought him back as an emergency measure to steady the ship and keep them up, basically. He achieved that and both him and the club should have had the sense to leave it at that.

I couldn’t understand him staying on this season, he looks like he’s aged about ten years in the last couple of months.
Trouble is when it’s in your blood it’s in your blood, look at warnock going to Aberdeen, absolutely bonkers that!
Not being ageist but if I was a decorated manager in my 70’s would I really want to be trying to work with 20 year olds in this modern era as opposed to taking my foot off the pedal?
Fair play to them for wanting to carry on but club owners should have a serious look at why they want to recruit managers who are in their 70’s, I don’t see any other industry that would recruit a manager that old and it’s not like they need the money, even ‘Arry has given it up!

I think it’s a lesson to any club that if you decide to sack someone, you need to do it. Not let it fester and get out into the press. You never know what’s around the corner, but sacking a pensioner on the day he collapsed at your training ground isn’t a good look.

Bit of a sad end for Roy but they had to do something.

Hmmmmmm very interesting appointment.

This was the guy I was worried Levy would go for this summer. He tends to play a fairly mid block 3-4-3 with some pressing but mostly counter attack style goals, had one very good season then a few pretty average ones.

Personally I don’t rate him and don’t think he would’ve be right for us at all and was pushing hard for Ange or Slot so happy we got Ange but will be very interested to see how Glasner does, he might fit fairly well for Palace, his football will be a bit more exciting than Woyball and can see him picking up a similar if not a tad better n.o of points but can’t see him doing anything mind blowing.

I actually coached with Mckenna, astonished at how well he’s gone on to do as a Manager, fair play to him.

But yea harsh on Woy if he’s in hospital!

Yea there comes a point where it’s just not a good fit anymore. Anything over 70 for a football manager seems too much really but like you say fair play to those managers of that age wanting to carry on, clearly so passionate about the game and can’t live without it.

It’s pretty shocking isn’t it, you could quite easily leave his management team in charge for the next game and then release a statement that he’s knocked it on the head for health reasons and 48 hrs later announce the new guy.
Give him a bit of dignity, he’s Palace through and through.

Plus what will he do with all the millions he has earn't from football ? He doesn't seem to be able to live outside of competitive world of football.

Wonder if Roy would want to work as assistant for NT or some club, he could use less stress. Glasner won UEFA Cup not too long ago, probably good signing for them.

That's quite a statement!

Not much - two footed!

“Klinsmann’s attitude and competitiveness as head coach has fallen short of people’s expectations and it was agreed that this would not be improved going forward, so we have decided to change leadership ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifying games.”

Michael Beale sacked by Sunderland. Was always going to end in tears he's a poor manager and the Sunderland job is just about as bad a role you could get if you are poor at your job.
