Yeah as a wing back in Conte's system. As a two way wide forward he looked a completely different player in the few games he managed under Ange.
I agree. I keep on reading on here all about him but I just wonder where people are seeing it? It can’t be here, since he’s hardly played. He also only played nineteen times for Fulham, I think. I’m not doubting anyone’s sincerity, I’m just a bit surprised so many people here seem to have strong opinions about him. The only real opinion I have been able to form about him is concern about his injuries.
I agree, we shouldn’t write players off, but Sessengon’s not a great example. He’s been here 5 years but he’s still a year younger than Solomon. You can see why we wanted to persevere with him, because he was still young. Whereas If Solomon is still here in 5 years time he’ll be nearly 30.
If Solomon can get fit, I would put him in the same category as Gill I think.

Or maybe he was just in a new country, team, and league and it takes a while to get accustomed to it? Everyone else looked shit too but because he was a bit older people are quick to say he was finished. He struggled a bit but the criticism was ridiculously overblown.

Solomon's career has taken a different trajectory and he's taken to Premier League remarkably well. I just mean that if people can give Sess a chance despite not staying fit or showing much on the pitch in 5 years then surely we can give Solomon 2 years.

Dunno what to make of this fella, looked decent when he did play but I doubt his ceiling is high enough to really be at the level we really want in terms of a starter and with the injuries I’d probably look for other options and get what we can for him. I’d be happily be wrong though and he gets fit and smashes the rest of the season

He’s a decent player and can be tricky which is something we miss but his injuries are a massive concern and although he’s a ‘decent’ player we’ve already got a handful of them in our wide forward positions… we need either promising youngsters with a high ceiling or the next level up.
Solomon and Gil albeit not large sums will bring in money that can be put to better use.

Being talked about in a lot of other threads but this one. I really can't tell if he we will still be here or not next season. Wild to think he played his last game for us in September, there is a small part of me that wonders if he won't make it onto the pitch again for us, unlikely i know but still. I thought he was back training but there hasn't been any sign of him in the vids, not unusual for us these days but makes you wonder none the less.
Personally i'm really struggling to see with his injury record any real convincing reason we should keep him which is a real shame as I still believe from a skill set point of view he would offer quite a bit but if he is permanently injured it sort of makes our decision for us. Not sure who would take a risk on buying him tho considering the amount of football he has missed over the last two season's. Even if he came back fit I wonder how much game time he will realistically get between now and the end of the season. Not a lot is my feeling. I can't see him coming on ahead of Werner for example. I also wonder if Ange would prefer to play Johnson there before Solomon now plus when Richy gets fit then Son might be getting minutes out left again.

Maybe a loan next term to try to find his rhythm again after two injury ravaged seasons might be a sensible option? As you say I can't see anybody wanting to take the risk of signing him permanently, and I think he could really do with plenty of game time after missing so much football, which I'm not sure he'll get here.
I’m not sure whether he was ever a primary target or we decided to take a punt given the finances. Like, would we have been still been interested if we had to pay a proper transfer fee for him. That’s not to say the club doesn’t rate him, but the club buys different players for different reasons.
If Ange and his team do rate him as part of the first team plans, then maybe we will persevere with him for another season, assuming he can find some fitness again. But if he was a club punt, then you’d think we would be looking to move him on: maybe through a loan until he proves his fitness. Especially if we are keeping Werner.

He's a strange one for me. I think if we're being honest most of us don't know anywhere near enough about this player to know if he's first team quality for us or not.
I've been discussing in the Werner thread and on the fence as to his purchase due to the number of options we have in that position and if he's the higher quality player we need.
A lot comes down to Solomon. If he's a genuinely high quality player that we have plans for then we only need 1 more player for that position. If he's an opportunistic signing due to being free then I guess this injury killed any chance of him making it here and he'll need to be moved on.
But trying to sell an unwanted player, coming off a big injury and little chance to prove himself on the pitch might be tricky.
Maybe our best option for the attacking positions is to buy Werner and one other and try to loan Solomon out for the season.

That's basically where I am with it.
Our recent transfer business doesn't appear to be us buying bargains and hoping for the best. But maybe this one was a case of that.
