I've got us finishing on 73 points and that was being conservative (Drawing to Arse, City, Newcastle, West Ham and Chelsea/losing to Liverpool.)

That should still be enough for 4th IMO.

While I agree with you in general, Arsenal were 11 points clear last season with 8 games to go and lost by 5 points. So a 16 point swing in 8 games.
this would require us to win all of our remaining games and have 3 teams fall apart

Like the highest point total we can get is 86

It's extremely difficult to win the league with that low. Almost impossible with how good city, arse and Liverpool have been

Don't want to be a grump but no way we only lose 1 of those tough games, particularly with City & Arse going for the title/Wham & Chelsea existing for no other reason than to cause us headaches

If City, Liverpool, and Arsenal average 2 points per game - we would win, without them "falling apart"

they are on about 2.3 points per game now - so, its not likely. But its also not impossible, the longer they stay in other competitions.

We are in it, until we have been eliminated!

In that case, it's a 10-11 horse race 😂

Didn't realise there were both prem and fa cup games next weekend. Beat Fulham and we'll go above Villa before they play away at West Ham on the Sunday.

Over here on Planet Earth, when thinking about hopefully finishing 4th, losing McGinn for 3 matches (West Ham, Wolves and Man City) after already losing Kamara to injury feels significant and in a good way for us.

Guarantee WH will be having a day off in that case
Probably. But both will have played on Thursday and hopefully a win for us puts pressure on Villa that they haven't really had for a while. Can easily see a draw in that game.

I don’t think we’ll win the league, but if we win our next two matches v Fulham and Luton we’ll be just 4 points behind Man C and 5 behind Liverpool and Arsenal. And Arsenal and Man C play each other next.

I don’t see any problem with fans being a bit excited about that. It will make a change from all the angst about Man U catching us.

I agree, although we haven’t lost in the league to Arsenal, Liverpool or City this season. In fact I think Chelsea are the only “traditional big 6” club we have lost to in the league under Ange. I don’t think we’ve lost to any of last season’s top 4 either. Our record against the bigger clubs has been good.

Agree about Chelsea and West Ham.

I don't think we will win the title, but it will be interesting to see how close we are when we start the sequence of games against City, Arse and Liverpool.

Last season 84 would have been enough for City to win it, given their superior goal difference.

At the ppm rate Arsenal and Liverpool are going this season, you would expect them to finish on around 87 points, and City on around 88.

Obviously it would be wildly optimistic to predict us winning all of our remaining matches, but I wouldn’t say it would be “almost impossible” to win the league if we did, and finished on 86 points. Especially since it would mean Arsenal, Liverpool and City had each lost one of their remaining matches to us.

Agreed winning the league from here requires too much to go for us but I wouldn't rule out 3rd (2nd at an absolute push).

Obviously requires us to return to early season form.

For me, I just want us to finish as high in the league as possible, and we should keep aiming to finish as high as we can until the last match of the season.

The small possibility of being involved in a title race during the last few matches of the season, adds a bit of fun and excitement while it’s still a possibility. That’s surely part of being a fan.

But it’s a bit of pity that we all feel the need to keep stressing that we can’t win it. It’s like we’re all so self conscious about being ridiculed or not taken seriously for daring to suggest that it’s still possible. I think this is why Ange has been a breath of fresh air. While it’s still possible, it’s still possible and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that.
