The obvious one for me is Orient - my mums family were from the Wanstead/Leytonstone area and my best friend supports them - mainly because we went there a couple of times when we were kids because it was close to my nans house.

The less obvious one is Wolves - not so much now, but when I was a kid I was a big fan of Steve Bull - his journey from the old 4th division to get into the England world cup squad was inspiring stuff at that age. In a way it's a shame they made it into the Premier league as I used to like looking out for their results when they were in the divisions below us. As soon as they came up they became the competition.

Great Thread....
Over the years I've had numerous different second teams - Back in the 1960s it was Brighton for a spell, because Bobby Smith went there after Spurs.... In the 70s I lived in various parts of West London, so QPR were my 'local' team, and there was the Venables connection, and also they were quite good at the time. When I moved to Cardiff, it had to be Cardiff , though I had a secret soft spot for Swansea, and when we moved to Preston it was PNE. back in Wales now, but I still check out the QPR, Cardiff and Preston scores. Not Brighton of course because they are now rivals of a sort. But I like/enjoy football and any team (with a few obvious exceptions) that is playing the beautiful game beautifully will always attract my attention and will give me pleasure to watch. Quite fancy the England Women's team at the moment....;)

Enfield Town FC, not really a secret.
Whenever I get the chance I'm there, It's really nice to see these players busting a gut giving 100% just because they love doing it, not for the money.
Plus the bar is really cheap and you can just drink heavily a few feet from the pitch.

Leyton Orient. Hackney kids chose Spurs or Arse. I chose Spurs but the O's (when Spurs played away) always meant a trip down Lea Bridge Road, past The Jailhouse and then a trek along Oliver Rd - Admittance 1/6d including programme.

A mate of mine became a fireman and worked in the small fire station near the ground - it was known as "Trumpton"

Growing up, I kind of picked up teams from abroad to support. There was a lot of Italian football on in the 90's so I ended up supporting Lazio because Gazza was there and had a Nesta shirt before he went to AC Milan. Not sure I would say I support them, but they are my Italian side.

Madrid similarly because of the English players they signed ended up being the Spanish team I cared about most, even though Ronaldinho is probably my favourite player of all time.

Swindon as my Dad used to live there and by chance it was during the Hoddle days.

Micky Hazard, Colin Calderwood, David Kerslake and John Moncur were all there at around that time too.

Anyone who is in their 40s will have grown up with Football Italia on C4 in the 90s... more so than the Premier League I'll wager. And the players we watched week in week out... Maldini, Del Piero, Baggio, Recoba. Vialli, Zola, Zidane, Nedved, Signori. There's no one like them around anymore. If I have an Italian team its Fiorentina because of Batistuta and Rui Costa.

Southend United. My father took me to my first game in the late 60s. FA Cup 1st Round where Southend beat Kings Lynn 9-0. My second visit to Roots Hall was against Brentwood Town in the FA Cup 2nd round. Amazingly, the Shrimpers went o e better and won 10.-1. Garry Moore scored 4 but was undone by other forward Billy Best who scored 5 times.

The only time I've not wanted Southend to win was against Spurs. Even then I always hoped the Shrimpers wouldn't be humiliated.

As a school kid I trained with Southend. A few years later I shed blood on the terraces for them in trips up north. Was arrested at Brentford and banned from Griffen Park after a rather unsavoury row with the locals.

I always keep an eye out for Southend's results. My cousin's lad Jack Bridge is now arguably their best player.

Brentford. Growing up they were in the bottom division. Now I am scared about them thrashing us on Sunday. To be honest, I can't really call them my second team now as they are too good. Seconds team need to be lower leagues imo

I'm only allowed one? I have a few based on places I've lived over the years.

Cambridge United - It's where I live
Bristol Rovers - I used to go with a mate of mine when he lived in Bristol.
Torquay United - Spent my teenage years in Newton Abbot, nearest league team.
Newport County - Lived there as a student
