He was on the bench, although you can have the rest of your squad on the bench. Was overlooked when they wanted to go more defencive as well.

Not sure if Big Phill was wanting a more exsperianced team to start with, and he might get some game time later in the tournement

I hear Petit is highly rated, and is a bit more defencive minded the Veluso!! So he was picked in a 4-3-3 if it was 4-4-2 Veluso may well be picked ahead of him

Any one else think mouthino played well could he do a job as a DM or is he more of a creative midfielder reminded me of Carrick yesterday.

I think hes considered more of an creative midfielder. Inler reminded me of Carrick a lot more then he did, and he is a DM

All the hype is on Gomez. But surely Klose and Podolski are starters ahead of him, so I don't see how he's gonna score that many goals.

I'm fairly sure Gomez will start up front with Klose and Podolski will start on the left wing.

Will Toualan start ahead of Makelele? Diarra? Viera (if fit?)

Arshavin may only play 1 game, which may even be pointless as he's suspended for the first 2 and as others have said, Gomez is probably 3rd choice.

Disagree as I said above, think Podolski will start on the left, Gomez is the form player.

Toulalan (knock off the first and last letters and what have you got?) is very good indeed. Unfortunately, I think we've got about as much chance of getting him as we have Benzema.

Yeh, I think Lyon are building a new team around Benzema and Toulalan, but I couldn't not put in such a classy DM, because I always like watching him whenever I've seen him.

I could see How Inler is so rated, he reminds me a lot of Carrick in that game. His passing was superb, However he didn't get much of the ball and a lot of the time he went missing, however normally that's good for a DM, anyways!!

I thought he was pretty dissapointing by his standards. His touch was still great and he is so assured on the ball, but he didn't do enough and he got caught out of position a few times which he rarely does at Udi. Mind you Fernandes was all over the place like he was on speed or something, so must have been difficult knowing where to position himself. At Udi he plays with D'Agostino every week, so I guess he knows exactly where he is. Udi normally play much more through him than the Swiss did yesterday.

Moutinho played well, but Petit was the DM and he was outstanding.

Now we've signed Modric, who's a similar build to Moutinho but an even better player at this stage in their development, I think we need an out-and-out C/DM next to Luka. Ie somebody to complement Modric, rather than buying a (talented) clone.

Well Toulalan is starting, so a chance for him to show his quality on the big stage. Also Benzema for those of you who were eager to see him start. I'll be watching him closely too.

I dissagree i think VDV had an outstanding game the other night, that Greek defender played really well last night apart from 2 points where the greeks took their chances...

Disagree!!

The Spain team performance was execptional, with individual performances from Villa, Senna and Iniesta being up there especially. The performances of Sniejder, van Der Vaart & Kuyt were also brilliant.

Senna would be great in our midfield doubt he would want to leave but think hes been linked to the premiership before. He is the type of player we need.

Do you mean Iniesta or do you mean Xavi? Xavi was different class.

Larsson is a damn good shout. I think he'll be bought by a good club after this tournament, we should've tried to get him on the cheap as soon as the season ended

Well, Joey knows I agree about Larsson, but he didn't get a single minute yesterday. And even though we won we didn't play particularly well and only won due to Zlatans screamer and Greece being utter shite! which made it 2-0..

Anyway, we really could have used Sebastian on the pitch, but our coach is so traditional and conservative he ain't likely to play much.. but do deserve a move to a tophalf premier team.. but that move is more likely to come from his prem season performance than from his minutes in the euros.

Edit: Well, okay so now Wilhelmsson looks to be out for the rest of the tournament due to his injury against Greece, so now Larsson is deffo gonna get some games!

I hope Deco gets dropped for today's game and we see Veloso or Meireles in midfield. Or maybe even Meira if Scolari wants to be cagey.

A solid 6 and half or 7 out of 10.

Inler and Toulalan were solid, probably amongst the best players for their respective teams. VdV had a good tournament. Chiellini came in and did very well for Italy, was far more solid than Materazzi and Barzagli. Villa is top scorer. Arshavin has been fantastic in the two games so far and rightly deserved to be on the list even if he was suspended and I can see Russia winning the whole thing. Oh and Modric was the maestro this tournament.

Major disappointments Veloso, was poor when he played, but didn't get much of a chance. Gomez has had a shocker of a tournament so far, but after such a good season he deserved to be on the list. De la Red looked very good in his one game, just a shame Spain have so many good midfielders that we haven't had a chance to see more of him.
