Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with some huge names this summer (Barcelona have already signed 4), as usual, and next year's El Clasicos will be crackers but I was wondering which potential team was better.

The 3 main names being linked with Real Madrid are Kroos, Rodriguez and Falcao with players like Benzema, Di Maria, Khedira all likely to depart.

Therefore, it is likely that they could field this team:

Lopez
Carvajal- Varane- Ramos- Marcelo
Kroos- Modric
Bale-Rodriguez-Ronaldo
Falcao
Barcelona have already signed 4 players- Bravo, Ter Stegan, Rakitic and of course, Luis Suarez. They might buy another midfielder (I haven't seen too many names linked) and are certain to buy about 2 CBs and maybe a RB as well if Dani Alves leaves. It is widely expected that Xavi will leave.

They might field a team like this:

Bravo
Alves- Marquinhos/Mathieu/Mascherano- Pique- Alba
Busquets
Iniesta- Rakitic
Messi-Suarez-Neymar

So which team is better? Discuss, my friends.

If Barca can sort their defence then I'd say they have the upper hand as @lao mentioned their front 3 looks great.

However if they ignore defence which seems to be normal then I'd say next years title is Madrid's.

Real Madrid and it's not even close. Piqué's lost the plot since he's been banging Shakira, Alves is declining, Rakitic is a step down from Xavi and Messi's going to have the hump that he's back out on the right. Plus Neymar and Suarez will be missing for a while and they just sold their best forward not called Lionel.

That Real front 6 will smash all in its path and the defence is a good blend of youth, experience, defensive solidity and forward play.

i think madrid's current side is better, certainly more balanced at least. they're never content to stay as they are though. di maria is a really good player for them, he's so different to everything else out there, has quality on the ball, breaks between the lines with his ridiculous pace and works relentlessly. i wouldn't fancy a kroos, modric, james midfield defensively. falcao as well, he may be a better finisher than benzema but is that what they really need with players like bale and ronaldo in the team? a finisher? benzema's a decent foil for their front line and is hardly a poor finisher himself.

as for barca, their problems are at the back, as much as i wouldn't want it to happen, vertonghen would be a pretty good signing for them. alves is slowing down so they could do with looking at that. rakitic whilst a very good player, i'm not sure he's barca good.

Madrid for me, they have power, pace and tricks while Barca have plenty of tricks but all three forwards like to dribble and I'm not sure they'll click as well as Madrid.

It is worth noting that Alves is in the last year of his contract so is likely to go for Cuadrado. Barca have to sign 2 CB's and I cant see another midfielder joining Sergi Roberto, Deulofeu and Rafinha all been promoted

Also the 2 CB's will be starting over Pique the way he is playing

Difficult to look past a neymar/ messi/ Suarez front line
Barcelona and Messi's record without xavi wasn't great up until 2012

I think they will potentially struggle without him in midfield as he is the one who keeps it all ticking over. Alot of pressure on Rakitic

Real Madrid's back 6 is weak defensively weak. Ramos and Marcelo cant defend and the other two are inexperienced and make the school boy errors

Looks like Xavi may well be staying. His wife has work commitments(journalist)

Ter Stegen will be first choice not Bravo.

Bartomeu says there are 2 more signings already done but will announce shortly.. 4-3-3 as Luis Enrique has already stated.....

Ter Stegen

Cuardado/Montoya Pique Vertonghen Alba

Busquets

Iniesta Rakitic

Messi Suarez Neymar

Madrid
Lopez

Carvajal Ramos Varane Marcelo

Modric Kroos

Bale Isco Ronaldo

Falcao..

Monaco wont sell both Rodriguez(want 75 mil euros) and Falcao(that was a dodgy deal done with Atletico last summer)......

Why do you think Barca would sign Vertonghen over Mathieu, who will sell for much less. Also, I would think that we would want the same for Vertonghen that PSG want for Marquinhos, so it would still make no sense to go for Vertonghen.

Psg, want 40 mil euros for marquinhos. Vertonghen 25 mil euros at most, and pochettino just replaces with lovren.

Valencia want 20 mil euros for mathieu, who is almost 31, and has 1 season as a cb.

Bartomeu claims has 2 more signings to announce so will see...

I thought you were a Spurs supporter?- Levy would sell Vertonghen for minimum 40million euros as well. Also, Lovren wants to go to Liverpool and we won't spend £25million on a defender

As for the price inflation by British media, we all know that the Spanish Media/clubs bullshits when it comes to prices

They're just rehashing the same quotes as before. The quotes weren't broadcasted so we'll have to wait and see

If the Madrid team in the OP turns out to be correct, then surely they'll be winning the league. Two of the best three players in the world plays one ;)
Wait, the Kroos quotes...I'm confused because you quoted something I said about Verts...:)

So the Kroos quotes are real but he didn't say it yesterday. Even if they aren't accurate, it's pretty obvious that he is going to Madrid...

No I didn't

We don't know if the quotes are real or not is what I'm saying, one source 'reported' them, and everyone else has based their reports on that, for example (from the sky report)

“We’ve finished the World Cup in the best way possible. Now I’m going to Madrid, so that’s two dreams achieved," Kroos told UOL.

But yeah, it does seem likely

Think madrid should just go out and make Neuer the highest paid and most expensive goalkeeper in the world. Never 100% certain on Lopez.

Think Braca has a stronger first 11... Interesting to see how Neymar works with Chompy.

Madrid selling Khedira would be similar to them selling Makelele ten years ago. Really dumb.
