Kalou??? I don't know any footy fans that rate him... has he ever scored more than once in a game?

The one that got away which I felt we could have got is Etoo... I reckon he would have been fairly cheap and would fit that quality lone striker role to a tee for a couple of seasons....

Oh well, guess we are gonna have to rely on the strikers that got us fourth and to the last 16 of champs league.... so they can't be that bad can they!!!

As soon as Bolton got Sturridge I said in either the scouting thread or the ITK thread that we'd missed a trick there. I hope we go for him in the summer.

As for Kalou, he's ok, he has some great moments, but he's very far from what we need.

Wellbeck's on a season long loan, so wouldn't have been available during the window. If Chelsea wanted to sell Strurridge they would have. They clearly rate him, which it was why it was a loan move, so we'd have been looking at silly money to land him.

Do you think Chelsea would have loaned him to us knowing we were lacking a good finisher and being in direct competition with us for the CL places this year?

He has looked great to in his first 3 games for Bolton, ok pretty much all his goals have been from defencive errors but he still had to be in the right place at the right time and his finsihing (aside against us, which was a poor shot let in by gomes) was great

We could do worse than signing him in the summer, depending on the price asked I suppose.

Kalou isn't all that great really, he misses easy opportunities and hasn't really ever set the club alight.

I like Sturridge, pacey, eye for goal, I liked him when he was at City too.

Wellbeck will never be good, it's just average players get hyped up like Henderson, Shorey etc. They'll always be average

If I wanted a real real cheap gamble, I would bid 1m for Ruud Van Nisterlooy in the summer who wants out, and if I wanted cheaper than that I'd go for a pay as you play gamble on Michael Owen or small 1m bid for Matt Derbyshire. These are only cheap alternatives I'm mentioning
