And because I still believe Bale can be a top top left back, i wouldnt mind seeing this:

Gomes
Walker - Kaboul - King - Bale
Sandro - Parker
Falque/Gio - VDV - Modric
Adebayor

Fair enough on Bale mate but why leave out 1 of PL top 3 left backs is beyond me. As it stands now Ekotto is far superior to Bale in that position.

Agree about bae but the difference when playing a 4-2-3-1 is that you should have really attacking fullbacks. I think if bae could work more on his attacking play then there would be no reason to have Bale there, if not then I could see Bale working well there.

defoe scored, ho wcan anyone be upset?

Guardian Chalkboards:

Defoe 1-89min - 19 successful passes

Adebayor 70-90min only - 22 successful passes

Shows you that a proper striker is about a lot more than 1 goal in 90 minutes of obscurity.

I thought Defoe played well. He worked hard and had a few shots on goal. I would stick with Ade and Defoe up front and play VDV on the right.

I don't get the 4-4-2 talk. I thought the VDV/Crouch combination worked to an extent. Adebayor is a big upgrade on Crouch so can only imagine how that partnership will go for us.

Will it be a lot different to the Keane/Berbatov combination with one dropping off and linking the play, and the other playing on the shoulder?

We're a lot less predictable with that type of partnership up top. There's a lot more movement and creativity I feel.

Call it 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 but I think this is the way forward.

Adebayor and VDV will be lethal.

Adebayor and Defoe will be great for now though.

For me its:

Friedel

Walker
Kaboul
King
Ekotto

Sandro
Parker

Modric
VDV
Bale

Adebayor

You want VDV off Adebayor, Modric can play in a forward right position with Walker getting beyond at times. Anyway they would be constantly interchanging.

I've never liked Modric on the right tbh. But I do like that system. I'd love to see us work in a way that VDV, Modric and Bale all interchange though. With 2 defensive midfielders it gives us the perfect platform. Germany showed it to great effect at the World Cup.

putting bale at LB is ridiculous for 2 reasons

#1 we have BAE who is one of the best LBs in the league
#2 bale got player of the year through playing at LM - why change?

madness
