As a lifelong fan, and a secondary school PE teacher I have the luck of teaching a student who is currently on the books of THFC (U13). I received a letter a few weeks back inviting me to go to the training ground to watch him train but I was unable to go so another member of the department went instead on Thursday.

Firstly, he said the facilities were out of this world and that he went into the changing rooms and thought they were unbelievable - only to be told that they were the youth team changing rooms!

The guy taking them around kept on talking about Harry Winks and said that Spurs regard him as a real star for the future - apparently Scott Parker is doing a lot of 1 to 1 work with him at the moment as they think he can be "too nice on the pitch". They also mentioned Dean Parrett as someone who they had high hopes for and said that it looks like his career is slipping away from him. Another they referred to regularly as a big hope was Adam Smith.

The only first team players that were in that day was Gylfi and Bale (not sure why they were in if the rest of the team had the day off?) but the youth team were all there training as well!

I asked him for pictures but apparently you are not allowed to take any he said.

Probably the reason why they are improving, putting in that little extra in training. Love it.

Thanks for the info, great stuff (y)

Are you able to do training ground tours, similar to the stadium tours?

Just found out a guy I know and used to play futsal with is now a part time coach at Tottenham. Gonna try and get in contact with him and see if I can get a tour of the training ground.

What position does harry play

Centre midfield, looks a good prospect there. Spurs have several youngsters who could make it at CM - Luongo, Bentelab, Veljkovic (CB/CM) plus Winks (only 17 so will be a couple of years before he's a first team prospect) so we might never buy a squad CM again.

Not sure but when leaving, Ben (the guy who went instead of me) was told by the guy taking him around that I (he told them I was his teacher and also a spurs fan) was always welcome back to watch him train so I am hoping to go at the start of next season!

What kind of CM does he play, Spursidol?

official site says midfield. and since its parker going 1-on-1 with him, id assume defensive mid

I wouldn't take too much stock into Parker coaching him, it's more about mental coaching rather than physical ability when the senior players help out the kids. Although he may well be of the Parker mould.

In a 433, he could be the anchor (DM) but possibly more likely to be playing one of the creative CM's supporting the front 3.

IMO Spurs are developing youth players to play in several different roles wherever possible, so no great surprise to find it difficult to label players.

I like that philosophy. Modern football requires players to be able to do various jobs what with our fluid formations nowadays.

I posted a video of Spurs u18s v Pool u18s which has a clip of him in here http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/ind...-other-youth-news.88939/page-130#post-3269446

He looks creative and sounds good if Parker is trying to toughen him up.

I genuinely thought that "Harry Wink" was referring to Arry and his twitch for a moment, lol.

Multiple media sources said that the training facilities were hugely impressive when they opened last summer, but nobody really said what was so impressive about it. The indoor pitch looks cool, and I'll bet it's a relief in winter rains!
