yeah most ridiculous thread i've read in a while. would like to go and see him, would be good to hear a few stories from his old playing days. his autobiography is a good read if anyone hasnt read it.

juande, can you pop back in tomorrow and give us a review?

Seriously, what the fuck happened in this thread? Is there a history between Juande & Alex? Or is that just possibly the most spasticated reply to a genuine thread ever?

I looked back over his old posts and it appears to be the world's most spasticated reply

Coincidentally, I was taking to my dad about this the other day. He went to an evening with Greavesie and Martin Peters last week.
He said that it was a brilliant night. Jimmy did about an hour of stand up, just being funny about the old days. Then Martin spoke for about 15 minutes about the club now, and then it was Q & A for the rest of the evening.

Evidently Jimmy had everyone in stitches about the old days. An interesting thing came out in the evening. After Jim retired, later in 1972, we gave him a testimonial against Feyenoord and he scored on the evening. (Brilliant night by the way, no doubt loads of us older folk were there) After the game, Keith Burkinshaw actually asked Jimmy to come out of retirement and sign for Spurs again. But because he was drinking a lot at the time, he told Keith that he would let him down, by not being fit enough and not training and getting pissed so much.
So an interesting little story, that Jimbo could have made a comeback!

Edit : Just remembered that Martin was asked if he knew whether Berbs was leaving and he said that no-one he speaks to at the club has a clue.

Can someone ask Greavsie why he wasn't at the 125 anniversary game?

Surely he was invited.

What a great evening it was last night, and this question was asked last night, and he was very honest with his answer, and that was that he had got the invitation to go to the game 3 weeks before we played Villa, and that he was booked up doing a charity event that evening that he just could not get out off.
He was asked who was the best player he ever played with or against and his answer was simple, DAVE MACKAY, he said he could do anything, and in his opinion the greatest ever Spurs player.
Very funny guy lots of gags and jokes, a great to her some old stories about playing years back, he also said that he would love to be a player know as he thinks its the easiest time to be a forward, as centre halfs just dont tackle anymore, and he would be the best striker in europe.

Greavsie

I went last night and it was a very funny evening

He said he was invited to Arsenals Palyer of the season Award but it was a rollover !

He aslo said if Glen Hoddle thinks people with defects are being punished for bad things done in a previous life then Peter Beardsley must have been Gengis Khan and Emile Heskeys second touch was a sliding tackle

Also reckons the Benfica final was rigged - sssh dont tell anyone though

Signed all sorts of photos books etc and all for a good cause

If he appears in your area go as the man is Spurs through and through and wouldnt you just love someone with that quality in our current set up

Oh yes Alex 101 needs a valium....

If there is another thread (and so there should be) on Greavesie, then I have plenty of stuff I can tell you (and some that I can't).
