Aaron Lennon - We MUST keep him.

1.) I agree with Triks. He desperately needs competition. Where's his incentive to improve? He's not good enough (read as: complete enough) yet to be solely relied upon, and it's unfair for us to put all our eggs in his basket.

2.) We need alternative outlets elsewhere on the pitch. It's all well and good saying Lennon is a one trick pony but so are we! To an extent, anyway. We rely on his pace too much. Teams are still petrified of his lightning pace but have gotten wise to it, and often double up on him. If we could stretch teams all over the pitch, Lennon would ultimately get much more freedom.

He must, must, must improve his delivery though. His job is to supply, and he isn't (yet) doing the role justice consistently enough.

Although I LOVE (in a man way!) ANY, and ALL, Spurs players I am getting slightly bored with AL....He has not really proved himself in the Prem. He can't even force his way into a poor national team...so what does that tell us?
I see him as a usuful squad player, at worst, and a VERY adequate 'starter' at best. Being young he needs to be given his 'head' just now but we are in the business of finding the best available for THFC and he is Up & Down a lot! COYS!

Don't think he has really progressed in last two seasons - speed is his main weapon.
Final delivery poor, as is decision making.

Competition would be good for him - but would he want it?

Talk of SWP leaving Chelski - another who hasn't progressed but thats cos he hasn't played. Would provide decent competition to Aaron.

Player really want tho is Bentley - he has developed so much in comparison over last two seasons. Good delivery, can finish, good work ethic, speedy, play both flanks ....

SWP is much better than AL in that he can cross the ball well, and has a good shot for such a small player. Lennon has the slight advantage in terms of burst and raw speed, but what good would that be if it doesnt come to any end result?

Maybe we should just hang on to him for another season, but if his shooting and crossing doesnt improve, then its time to go.

Maybe its got something to do with his attitude. The minute he got his england caps, his game started going downhill. Maybe he started to get big-headed after that, and that affected his performance.

He will peak at about 23 anyway, after that I reckon its straight downhill. Taking the money now could be a wise option

his control and pace are outstanding... it would be great if he was a finisher too

The Lennon debate seems to just keep on going on and on,round and round in circles.
I honestly think we want our young players to progress so much that we make too many allowances for them,Huddlestones another one,and to a lesser degree O'Hara.Im not anti Lennon but every time i go to watch Spurs he totally frustrates me.
I really hope he does come good, but i wouldnt be overly surprised if he spent most of his career playing elsewhere at a smaller club.

I definately hope we don't get rid of Lennon. He is another very nearly player in a very nearly team but he's a nippy winger and he's got something we don't have if he goes. he does what nippy wingers do. They run at people and worry them. In a squad you need as much attacking variety as you can get and until we come up with a better option (although I would happily see Malbranque start wide right and Lennon come on and run at tired legs later on) then we have to hold on to him if possible.

I don't always think he's to blame for is low chance creation stat. Neither Keane or Berbatov for various reasons aren't always flying into the box challenging for crosses (Keane because he might get hurt and Berbatov becauase he plays deeper) and both prefer to hang back for the cut back. And our midfielders don't always get into the box in these circumstances either.

His end product does need to improve though, as does his work off the ball. He must learn to buy himself time and space, and he must help the team defensively more too.

We'd be complete mugs if we were to sell Lennon. The boy is a unique player has pace to burn, unbelievable close control (on a par with Ronaldo), rarely loses the ball and is imo one of the best defensive wingers in the league (he tracks back and defends so well).

Yes it has been hightlighted the need for Lennon to improve his final delivery but for me that will come as it did with R Giggs. I would be much more happier for him to improve his goal scoring ratio before anything else...then we have a world class player on our hands.

I'd love to have the Lennon of 2 years ago. If you look closely, his waistline had thickened in the past year and he was not as quick as he used to be. I think all the drinking and partying is taking its toll.

I seem to have notice the same with Rooney. He could scarcely run in the CL Final.

The party attitude has been absolutely entrenched at Spurs , certainly since Burkinshaw left .

The only way of shedding it is to have a mass clearout but how on earth would we find that many replacements who aren't just as bad ?

I love it when Lennon is on the ball running at full backs but his final ball is so frustrating. I really hope its something Ramos and co look at in the summer as however much I love the guy I'd much rather see Beckham delivering an accurate ball for our strikers and not beating a man, than someone who can beat 3 men but can't deliver an accurate ball!

Not a massive fan of Lennon, but hes a young player, and has shown lots of promise, I agree with you that we need to hold onto him but its really time for him to progress.

His crossing, although improved towards the end of the season needs to improve.

Whatever happened to his first season form where he didn't stop taking (and succeeding) taking people on.

2 Points.

If Lennon was the same player he is now but played at another club, I think we'd all be wanting to sign him, I can imagin the thread - He's 21, plays on either wing, blistering pace and destroyed chelsea in last seasons fa cup semi. Needs to work on his crossing but we should defo sign him.

Secondly, for such a young lad, he's had an enormous amount of responsibility, and has played pretty much every game he's been fit, due to our lack of wide options, and I think this season he's ended up out burnt out and out of form.

I know some people are getting a bit light headed with all the transfer gossip, but to sell one of our most promising youngster is just silly, althouh getting another wide player to take the pressure off of him, might be a sly move.
