In which case we have wasted £26 million on a penalty taker because he'll get zero service, just like yesterday with Townsend one side and Lennon the other. Townsend generally has one thing one his mind, I'm Gareth Bale I must shoot.

He is learning. AVB had a word on Thursday and since then he has stopped wandering to centre forward and running into the middle of the pitch with the ball every time. He is now staying wide and is attacking on the outside. An inverted winger is hopeless if the defender knows he won't go outside him. Lennon on the left is a doddle to defend against, Townsend cutting in from the right all the time the same but if a defender knows you can do both he has a problem.

I've not been a Townsend fan on the right but if he will continue to attack on the outside then he has promise, when he learns to cross along the floor to Soldado against Premier League defences he'll be even better. He can't improve his decision making without game time of course and no doubt he'll enjoy another outing on Thursday.

Nowhere near the finished article but he has upped his game considerably in the last year so credit where credit is due.

Whether you think that or not, it's clearly the way our manager wants us to play. At the end of the day, he's in charge. If he decides Lennon doesn't fit, it's perfectly right he should be considered for sale.

I don't quite see where I was disagreeing with that. Did I not say if they have bid £12 million i'd talk?

Townsend played because Lennon is injured otherwise he'd have been on the bench so your predictions are premature.

we will not be getting £15m for Lennon, sorry to have to break some reality to you. we'd only get that money if we were selling to a bigger club. reason being that when we sell to a bigger club, it's reluctantly, while when we do to a lower club it's because we wish to sell. there's just no way a club like Cardiff would otherwise have the nerve to bid for one of our first-team players.

for Lennon's true selling price, you only need to look at how much players have gone for when we've sold to the likes of Cardiff, Pompey, Hull etc. in the region of £10m would be my guess.

quite a few of you will soon be getting a reality check re this guy, whether he stays or not

I would actually say the reverse, the only way we would get 15mil for Lennon would be from a lower team desperate to make a statement and having to pay over the odds, citing stoke as an example.

Bigger teams A) Dont have the need for Lennon, B) Will track better players.

I would be shocked if anyone would pay even 10 million for Lennon, as the years go by he is only going to lose the one asset he has got and frankly when he loses that he may as retire.

As sad as it is going to be for some fans to see Lennon go, its time they faced facts and accepted we are moving on and players we were once regulars in the team like Lennon and Huddlestone are just not what AVB wants and are really not quite good enough for a team that hopefully be challenging for the title in a couple of years time

If we have been hawking Townsend around for £7 million then £10 million for Lennon is using totally different criteria, one has been there and done it, one hasn't.

I have no problem upgrading Lennon but player values need to be consistent, £10 million for Lennon is a snip, at that price half the teams in the Premier League would have him and around Europe.

they wouldn't need to be desperate though, as it seems we're happy to sell.

you have no proof that half of the clubs around the Premier League and Europe would consider Lennon a snip at £10m

Looks like a lot of rumblings going on. A complete overhaul of our previous squad.
Don't mind seeing Lennon go - obviously would like to see replacements in place. Could get decent money for him.
Excited to see what AVB has up his sleeve with this move.
Cardiff - another special relations club? We nicked Capoue from them, and reinforced them Caulker, and now...

Grey Fox just now: "Sorry folks, have a lot of info, but too pissed and don't trust myself in the RO, i will post in the morning, waht I will share tonight nis Vlad should be with us wednesday or Thursday and lots of interest in Lennon. Going to bed sorry"

If RO info is being used against Spurs to scupper deals in the pipeline, I feel queasy

I dont think so. It will always be in the interest of the agent and the selling club to let other interested clubs know what is going on with a transfer. They have every incentive to leak transfers as they draw to a close, in order to get better offers.

I think you are missing the point, its desperation when teams will pay over the odds. We dont usually get mugged when it comes to selling players whether we are happy to do so or not.

If there is a lot of interest in Lennon, I would presume there is more than one team looking to purchase ... 10mil will probably be the start of the bidding.

It will be whoever is most desperate to land him that will see the price rise.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree. Lennon is nowhere near a snip at 10mio. Compare to copoue? How many international games has he played? I love him but what are his real strengths besides pace.

In summary, I would take 10m without thinking. 7m may even be a bargain.

there is no way Lennon will be leaving in this window.

not that i have ever been his greatest fan, but can we afford to keep getting rid of homegrown players???

Caulker, Hudd, Livermore and Parker have all gone. we need to have 5! i think?

i think this is the big year for Lennon, with Bale going, it's his time to show he can win matches for us

The game is about pace these days.

and if there isn't much interest and we're looking to sell?

when was the last time we received any sort of bid for Lennon anyway? if Cardiff are interested, then it's almost certainly because we've been shopping him around rather than having received unsolicited bids, in which case I can't see there being an auction.
