and if there isn't much interest and we're looking to sell?

when was the last time we received any sort of bid for Lennon anyway? if Cardiff are interested, then it's almost certainly because we've been shopping him around rather than having received unsolicited bids, in which case I can't see there being an auction.

We have started this topic in regards to some ITK talking about Cardiff besides many teams are showing an interest in Aaron Lennon. If you are only talking about Cardiff now, then yes you would be correct and no body would really debate the point.

So last season in 33 appearances he scored 4 goals with 7 assists. Not good enough in my onion
but not too bad when we had a miss firing strikeforce plus who had more assists than him i doubt many did dembele assist i doubt were better , and lennon cutting in from the wing and scoring against arse is good enough for me ... going no where

I gave you friendly but our team is so much better than last year. Hence, lennon should be sold if we can get over 8mio.

Understand if you disagree as we are all spurs fans. COYS.

Stats are for people who have limited knowledge of the game and want to support their ramblings with nebulous numbers.

*not aimed at you personally, just saying.
I understand what you are saying but surely goals and assists mean something.

Stats are not a fluke element, if that makes sense.

Yes and no. A big part of the problem is really how far behind other sports football is with advanced stats. "Assists" only tell you who made the LAST pass. If Beckham made an incredible pass that was then tapped to another player for the goal, he wouldn't get the assist despite being the one who really created the chance. I think someone posted that Iniesta doesn't even have a ton of assists.

Context and variables.

Two essential aspects which are conveniently excluded when stats are waved about like some rock hard boner of truth.

Stats are an aid; a tool.

The truth is more complex.

Modric was a prime example. He had 3 assists in his last season with us.

Exactly. But bringing in more detailed/intricate stats would still only give you part of the picture.

Will there be stats for the level of morale a player bring to a team? His affect on the team's 'spirit' when on the pitch? What affect his 2 excellent crosses had on the team on the 32nd minute in which his driving runs lifted the teams confidence??

It's these things and the countless other qualitative aspects that are just as important but are infinitely harder to measure.

Stats have their use, but they are not a rod of truth to ram your opinion home with.

Lennon is a good player going past defenders, its his end game that comes into question.
I think its about time he had some decent competition for his place, maybe he will up his game.
He needs to spend more time at the training ground practicing his crossing and shooting.
Players get better when they know there playing for there place in the team.
This is what AVB is creating at spurs and i for one am glad hes doing it.
Players who dont like it can leave as far as im concerned.
If lennon dosent show some improvement, then offload at january window

Lennon's stats are from a different playing style. It's pretty clear we're evolving in to something different. If AVB decides he doesn't fit, i'm ok with the decision to let him go.
