Mistake letting Lennon go. We could have done with him coming off the bench yesterday.

Why is that so ridiculous? You go back over the last 4 or 5 years & see who has provided the most assists, or scored the most goals, or turned over possession etc etc etc. I have no idea what the result of that search would be, but I'm almost certain that Welbeck would be well ahead of Lennon is almost every department.

Also, Lennon is now 27 years old & no better than he was when we signed him at 16 years of age. Welbeck is only 23 and can still be coached to be an even better player than he currently is.

For the record, I like Lennon, he's been vital to our right hand side since Walker was made our 1st choice RB. However, a winger/wide attacker should be renowned for what he provides in the final third of the pitch, not for being a better RB than the guy who actually plays there

I remember thinking Aaron could be a superstar when he was giving fullbacks twisted blood in 2005-06, but he plays in his shell now, and his left foot hasn't got one bit more useful since those days - criminal that he never improved that side of his game.

Have to agree, Daniel. Lennon is our winger/wide attacker, yet nearly all of us speak highly of him because he provides excellent defensive cover when Walker is playing (or missing, as is normally the case when he's on the pitch  ). Our winger/attacking player should be spoken of for his ability in the attacking third of the pitch, not the defensive third of the pitch.

I believe it was 2005 when we signed Lennon as a 17/18 year old kid? Yet the fact of the matter is, he's now no better than he was when we signed him, he may even have regressed somewhat. Yet another player who could have done so much better in his career, but has, for whatever reason, never pushed on. I think the best pointer to how successful his career has been = There's a reason why no bigger/better club than THFC has ever made a move for him.

However, if it was a choice between selling Lennon or Townsend, I'd keep Lennon all day long.
