I just wonder what happens to the mentality of some of these players who didn't move that now know that we were actively trying to sell them? It cant do much to the player / manager bond. I sense trouble ahead on this one.

Why ? Just because he has been here a long time ? Lennon is part of the problem and not the solution to our problems.

No because Lennon is a useful squad player, if used correctly he offers pace defensive work and space for others.

Lennon will have to whack his head back into place and perform like he did in the first half of the 2012/1013 season. I have tons of love for the guy, but he's one of the old guard and he has to step up.

Lennon is one of the reasons this club can't move forward.

I have no idea what he is like as a person but he is just not good enough player for a top 4 team, if that is what we are aiming for.

Unfortunately, he is too comfortable at Spurs.

Personally, I think the only way to get him out is marginalise him until Jnauary.

And the problem with us fans is we're all horribly fickle.
There's loads of players that are holding us back but we pick on various ones and stick up for the others.

We'll never get top 4 with our current squad at its current level.
The likes of Kaboul, Rose, Chiriches, Naughton, Lennon, Townsend, Bentaleb and Soldado simply aren't good enough.

Adebeyor can be but we have no plan B for the days he's marked out of games (that happens to some better players too)

Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela were clueless on Sunday but at the moment I think there's potential two of them can be top players and one a useful player.

I'm holding judgement on all of this summer's signings. None of them have excited me though.

hard to disagree with any of that, although you could certainly do with adding a c to your penultimate word.

Have to agree, Daniel. Lennon is our winger/wide attacker, yet nearly all of us speak highly of him because he provides excellent defensive cover when Walker is playing (or missing, as is normally the case when he's on the pitch  ). Our winger/attacking player should be spoken of for his ability in the attacking third of the pitch, not the defensive third of the pitch.

I believe it was 2005 when we signed Lennon as a 17/18 year old kid? Yet the fact of the matter is, he's now no better than he was when we signed him, he may even have regressed somewhat. Yet another player who could have done so much better in his career, but has, for whatever reason, never pushed on. I think the best pointer to how successful his career has been = There's a reason why no bigger/better club than THFC has ever made a move for him.

However, if it was a choice between selling Lennon or Townsend, I'd keep Lennon all day long.

This. 100%
