Sun on Sunday in the FC section has a small link saying Poch has the green light to sign Abel Hernandez from Palermo for £8m.

(Same section links us to enquiring about Eto'o too).

He looked good against Tahiti in the Confederations Cup :cautious:.

Only time i've ever seen him play. I remember he was very fast.

Saw him have a brief cameo in the Olympics for Uruguay. Didn't look too bad but didn't look great either.

helpful.

I liked him. He's a striker who I believe possesses the ability to play as a wing-forward with excellent pace and athleticism. Sadly, though, this link would have excited me much more 2-3 years ago. I don't think he is the forward we need at the moment, he's not top quality yet and while he does have potential, I'm not sure he would be anything but a reserve option. The issues for me lie with consistency, timing of runs, dribbling in tight spaces, and passing.

Imo no need. Too much options upfront already. We need space in the squad to give Kane enough minutes so he can develop.

Looked a real prospect a few years ago even if he never scored many goals but injuries have impacted him and iirc Palermo got relegated
Haven't seen anything of him for a few years now

Coming off his best season if i am not mistaken.....his best season was also at Serie B, so did well against lesser competition for what it's worth.

A couple years ago he seemed regarded as a solid prospect.....I know he is very, very quick but had the impression that he was one of those strikers that teams lob a ball deep into a corner and let him run it down....maybe i have that wrong but it wouldn't seem to fit with what we would want in a striker.

No thank you. Poor decision making and technically inferior to what we have. A lot of hype about him a few years back, never lived up to it.

Yeah I believe they've just been promoted back to Serie A. He looked quite the prospect at one stage and was talk of him being better than Cavani when they were both at Palermo. For a reasonable fee I wouldn't mind but he'd need playing time to develop.

We had a long-standing serious interest in him but it never quite came off. Very much doubt he's still on the list.
