Would prefer Firmino, who could play three of thos positions

Signed a new deal a couple of weeks ago, unlikely he's going to go anywhere, Hoffenheim are still building - the 4th spot in Germany is very much up for grabs and next season they could be up there fighting for it

Liverpool have made a bid according to BBC Sport. Watch all the big teams do their business prior to the world cup only for us to be scratching our arses.

We don't need to do much anyway. Our priority is a good manager first and foremost.

We did our business last summer.

Whilst I agree we do have a few key positions to sort and I suspect we will need a new forward as I happen to believe the Adebayor to Monaco rumour. Manager is definitely key though.

Are Southampton really going to sell their two highest profile players ? Seems like a sort of football suicide.

Don't see they have much choice. They'll get £50+ million which should wipe out the debt they have. But yes, next season might be a case of trying to survive rather than pushing on. But that's life in the EPL. Apart from City, Utd and Chelsea, the rest of us end up selling our best players to bigger clubs.

Manager needs to be the priority. Everything else feeds off that.

Besides, the window doesn't shut until the end of August, and unfortunately that's when Levy believes the best deals can be struck. There's no balance with "getting business done early this year" (like every year). But hey, we know that's how we work.

I just have a phobia of August transfers in a WC year. End up with Iran's best player or something.

If, as we're led to believe we're not going to spend much this summer, buying Llana should not even be considered. Why on earth do we have to keep buying AM's every transfer window? Seriously, how many more do we need? I'd rather we stuck with the ones we have and use whatever money we have in strengthening our back 4. It's the last position in the squad we need to strengthen.

BBC are reporting Liverpool have made a bid for Llana this morning

Because despite buying lots of attacking midfielders, we are still shit in the final third, which is where it counts. I would love us to sign Lallana as we are still well short of quality players with the ball at their feet.

Agree about other priorities though, namely LB, CB and CF.

I think that has more to do with the managers this season. With a decent manager with players playing in their correct positions I'd like to think we'd improve in this area without having to buy in new players. I just can't see Levy spending much this transfer window unless we can offload a few.

I'm not convinced Lallana is exactly the player we need, and he would wipe out a large chunk of our budget for next season. If we had the funds of last summer he would be a great player to get in.

Not really sure why Liverpool would buy Lallana, and risk disrupting their 'free-flowing' attacking prowess. Who would drop out for him? Or would he be a bench boy? I think Lallana would be best suited moving to Man Utd.

I would love Lallana, but think we need to add pace back into our game, where a direct player, such as Konoplyanka, would suit us and fill the left sided void.

Unfortunately, I think we'll see more change than many are visualizing yet. Before even considering the likelihood of players leaving, it's very clear we're going to need a LB, CB, and LW. CM is admittedly debatable. Players will undoubtedly leave from other positions, therefore causing us to fill yet more places. New manager, obviously unbalanced squad, and players will inevitably want out regardless of manager or sold anyway.

I think in the end we'll see at least 7-8 players leave, and at least five new players brought in not including loan returnees.

We won't be getting Lallana. Why would he come here rather than Liverpool? CL & more wages over there.

Agree. Unfortunately, one of the consequences of changing managers so frequently is that lots of players come and go.

This is true regardless of whether we have a DOF or not, which makes the perceived stability of the DOF structure a complete red herring.

To be fair he's not given the control that an actual DoF is typically given in those situations. However, after last summer I'm perfectly fine with that. His negotiation and contact networking skills are seemingly undeniable, but beyond that I've no wish to see him take on more responsibility.

Personally I'd be very open to getting him in if we can offset the spend with selling Paulinho on. He's by far the better player of the two in my opinion.

I'd rather get him by selling Siggy and Lennon. Paulinho's actually a good player if he's allowed to move.
Not that Siggy isn't. He just ain't a fit for the team imo.

If we poached Lallana from under Liverpool's nose after the season they have just had I would worry about the suicide rate in the Liverpool area tbh.
