Really good video, thanks! Lovely to see such passion abroad! Always assumed the states were all Man Utd. (Apart from Steve Nash)
When I last went a couple of years ago, Chelsea and Man Utd were the only EPL shirts I saw in shops - Barcelona and Real were the other ones, aside from the MLS teams.
Japan is full of Man Utd Liverpool fans esp in Tokyo
Malaysia is the same
South Africa was full of the above but also Chelsea and Arsenal supporters.
If someone asked me to come up with a photo-fit description of what your 'typical' Tottenham fan looked like it would look just like him.
Late 30s, dark hair, average height, bit of a scruffy shadowy beard going on, quite a bit overweight from eating too much sh*te fast-food on match days (washed down with several bottles of overpriced Carlsberg), likes the talk ('know what I mean'), and a bit Jewish looking, but not quite as much as that David Baddiel fella'.
Everyone seems to be very forgiving that he also supports another team whose fans hate us.
RE: him supporting other teams, esp. Spam - it's annoying but not as half annoying as overseas fans who adopt a pose of hating rival clubs to fit in and be cool. So many go overboard. The most important thing is that he loves Spurs. He's probably better off for leaving all the hate and angst well enough alone anyway.
I agree with you about the hate and angst. A few years ago I found that the only reason I had to hate Arsenal was that they weren't giving me any reasons to hate them any more.
I suppose I just can't understand how people can support more than one team. I have soft spots for other clubs but have no real emotional attachment like I do for Spurs. Can you really support two clubs properly? I'm not sure... What happens when they play one another? Then again, I manage to love both my kids the same amount so I suppose it is possible.
I dunno. I'm a huge gridiron fan myself. As a Miami alum, I have a natural antipathy for FSU in particular. However, despite my supporting those lovable losers the Bengals, I feel no real sense of hatred for the Steelers, Ravens or Browns. Then again I don't have to listen to the obnoxious talk radio hosts daily. So I can completely understand his detachment. I agree though about the multiple teams things, I would hardly follow the Colts as well.I agree with you about the hate and angst.
