Outer Mongolian players are hot shit man ....they score free kicks in Euro's and then, you know the rest! Seriously though, there has t be something about players who are in the EPL. I believe Traore will be better with better players around him (Kane, Son, etc.). All this talk of a one trick pony is hilarious as despite this, no defence has definitively shut him down. His final product will improve when the environment around him improves - I'm really hoping we sign this guy

I'm with you 100% mate.

You mention final product (a fair concern from those who don't like/want him) but even last Sunday, he stood some great crosses up at the back post, pulled balls back to the edge of the box & we had no choice but to defend/block them.

Dare I say it, our better quality attackers would've made more of those chances that Wolves failed to capitalise on.

I understand the doubts but the space he would create for son, lane and even gil if Thursday is anything to go by makes him a really fun signing.

Exactly. And you've not even mentioned the likes of Dele, Bergwijn & Moura.

Then there's this new lad that Lane that you threw into the equation. :cautious:

The bold bit doesn’t make sense though (not being argumentative, just pointing out :) ). I’m not saying I want Damsgaard because he doesnt play in the premier league. You are saying however that you like Traore better because he does. So we may as well never bring in players from outside the league. The smaller your pool of selection the lower your quality.

I also think that if we’re talking about proven in the epl, you have to include all facets of that. Traore then is proven to terrify defenders but also proven to be almost non existent as a goal threat, and to have no intelligence or passing game. And whenever people talk about how he causes chaos and destroys defences… it’s true but the part that’s omitted is where he gets to the byline and blindly smashes it into the box thinking his job’s done. Or gets into a one on one and misses. it doesn’t matter how many times you beat players if it ends up with nkthing.

I’m not saying he’s crap. Or that he hasn’t improved in those areas. Maybe he has the potential to improve further but i don’t think that’s why we’re interested. I’m not even saying I don’t want him at all. If it was a swap for Bergwijn, fine. What bothers me is chucking a big enough fee to prevent us moving for players with a lot more to their game, and also, it seemingly coming at the expense of another striker.

I would rather Damsgaard because his skill set is leagues above Traore imo especially in terms of how broad it is and in addition to that he can play anywhere across attack of midfield. As a lwf he scored and almost assisted what Traore does every season in 4 games I think. Damsgaard is creative, has tons of vision, a brilliant dribbler with outstanding technique, great pace, and fantastic passing ability. He works really hard And is just emerging as a player. Traore is extremely fast and and strong and has quick feet. That’s my basis for comparison. I don’t understand ignoring a player’s qualities just because they play in a different league.

The EPL experience thing is a very selective way of assessing players though and ignores everything that matters IMO. Martinez and Vlahovic have never played in the premier league.

this all sounds really negative. If he comes I’ll try to be optimistic. Who knows he could explode. Hopefully from the left. i do wonder if Lucas would be a star at wolves with better numbers.

Honestly bud. I have a feeling your (very good) response has just told him everything he wanted to know.

Your original post said you'd rather we went for Damsgaard rather than Traore & that's why SA asked what he did.

Maybe nobody else wants to sign him because if he does score and everybody piles on him to congratulate him they will slide off like wet shit off a greased up finger... risk of injuries?
How often do you shit onto a greased up finger?

That’s fair. I don’t agree but opinions. Damsgaard is renowned though for being hard working and fit on top of his talent so the Ndombele comparison doesn’t hold.

I don’t like the nuno led nature of it personally. I’ve been impressed by Paratici’s choices.

Did you know about Damsgaard before the Euros? Be honest.

Ohhh.. and I was all set to read from the thick documentation of lies I’d prepared. ? (I understand why you said that).

Not really no. As in hadn’t watched him. But since then I watched absolutely everything I could and from initially thinking he was just a flavour of the tournament deal, I became more impressed with each viewing. And then looked into his numbers in diff positions, and scouting reports on his positional flexibility. I think that’s why I like him because he won me over from skepticism.

Hinestly, I don’t fucking know. Maybe he wouldn’t work out And I’m just being a bit reactionary. I’ve seen him play badly and I think that the point re Traore’s suitability for epl is a good one. If we get Traore I’ll 100% be supporting and hoping he fulfils and develops on all his obv upside. I just had to get over the brutal overnight change in our transfer expectations that comes toward the end of every window. I do hope we play inverted wing forwards though including him and Gil, or we will sacrifice our goal threat.

Maybe that we lack any kind of magic/creativity plays into this as well.

Wolves won't sell him so late in the window unless someone offers silly money. Hopefully we won't be that club.

I’m thinking he might not be the first option. Wolves want this to be a compulsory purchase, whether up front or after a year. We’ve only offered an option to buy. If he was first choice, we’d have gone back in with an obligation already you would think

You know what?

Fair play to you for admitting you'd not seen anything of Damsgaard prior to The Euros, and then going on to explain yourself, your reasoning etc.

Gotta respect that! ?
