Anyone suggested the possible move from Wolves for Renato Sanches could be a Mendes sweetener in our attempt to get Traore?

Well, at least if we do sign Traore, we will have 4 right backs for him to train against being double upped on :)

Every cloud.

The Athletic are reporting that we won’t be bringing in any attacking players on Deadline Day.
According to them, we are done in this respect.

The problem with Traore's end product isn't how bad it is, it's no worse than three quarters of the premier League, it's that it's out of sync with his other qualities. He can carry the ball from his box to the other box beating a bunch of opposition players on the way as well as any player in the league and his ability to come away from a gang of three or four defenders with the ball still at his feet is second to none not to mention the fact that nobody ever bullies him.

I think this will go down to the wire, clearly we are in talks with Wolves still and its just a case of who blinks first on the price. Both sides will play this out as long as possible to get a better deal but with only 22 months left on his contract Wolves must be thinking of cashing in.

I think even with 12 months left they will get 25-30 for him based on other deals this window. If we are offering 40-50 I think they would rather keep him and hope to convince him to sign a new deal. I think the issue is we wanted Vlahovic/Martinez and then he became the chosen option when they didn’t materialise but sounds like we didn’t big bid as there was some who weren’t sure. Just can’t see it happening on the last day of the window.

I have been a bit "meh" re signing Traore, but this is the ultimate risk vs reward signing.

What we (the club) have to establish is whether the fee we pay will get us champions league football.

Over to you now Fab (and Daniel)

If we can only make ONE signing on the last day and the choice is between a midfielder or a winger, I would choose a winger. Our midfield (PEH, Skip, Ali, Lo Celso, Winks, AND Tanguy who likely will stay) are not bad, but for me Bergwjin and Lucas are not good enough as starters. Gil is promising but he is more like a project for the future.

Lucas Moura has passed his best. Even Tite Brazil not interested in calling him. Both he and Bergwjin are too inconsistent. I hope the Spurs will focus on getting a winger in the next 12 hours or so instead of a midfielder. If Adama is impossible to get then shift the focus to someone else. Many good wingers are available (Doku, Diaz, Ismaila Sarr, etc). Or how about PSG players? Mbappe is set to stay. The likes of Drexler should be available.

You say Moura isn’t good enough but he’s twice the footballer Traore is imo. And I’m not even a massive Moura fan.

I'm not a massive Moura fan either, and I'm also able to acknowledge the fact that Traore’s shooting/finishing can be frustrating (his crossing is NOT as bad as many suggest. He puts the ball into dangerous areas that Wolves players fail to put away).

But I can't agree that Moura is twice the footballer that Traore is.

Both players can be frustrating, but Traore does what he does EVERY single game.

Whereas nearly all of us sit on here saying we wish Moura would do what he's capable of every game.

Onions!

Sky saying Wolves unlikely to sign Renato Sanches now, so I wonder what the implications are on the potential Traore move. Surely means they're even more reluctant to sell if they can't get anyone else in.

Or hopefully Mendes is playing silly buggers with Wolves to let Traore go. I.e. You don't let Traore go, you don't get Sanches
