Wolves reject proposal from Spurs insisting winger Adama Traore is not for sale
Tottenham Hotspur were ready to pay a £5 million loan fee for the winger

Tottenham’s Hotspur’s bid to sign Adama Traoré has suffered a blow with Wolverhampton Wanderers standing firm in their desire to keep the winger.

Spurs have targeted Traoré after accelerating talks this week and had hoped to structure a loan deal with a view to a permanent move.

Wolves immediately rejected an initial proposal of a loan deal that included a £5 million loan fee and are adamant they do not want to sell the Spain international this summer.

Traoré is viewed as a key player under new head coach Bruno Lage and integral to their future. Negotiations over a new contract will advance when the transfer window closes.

When asked after the Carabao Cup victory at Nottingham Forest if he expects Traoré to stay, Lage said: “Yes, I think so, we want to create a strong side, a better side to be competitive.

“We need competition for a long Premier League season and the League Cup, if players are not fit we need people to come in for them.”

Traoré has two years remaining on his contract and was believed to have been interested in following his former head coach Nuno Espirito Santos to Spurs, but that has not changed the Wolves stance.

It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs try to test that resolve again before the transfer window shuts, but the news of Wolves’ unwillingness to negotiate will come as a blow to Nuno.

The Portuguese is a huge fan of Traoré and wanted the former Barcelona youngster to provide greater pace and adaptability to his squad.

? got excited then thinking we definitely won’t be lumbered with him before reading the bid rejected. Hopefully we have a modicum of judgement remaining and that explains the loan rather than money bid.

Neg me up, it only makes me stronger. ?

Want us to get in for Damsgaard so much. A real quality footballer.

Are we? In the last 5 years what meaningful business have we done in the last few days of the window?
I csnt remember and I'm supposed to be working but point is I do remember all the jokes about levy and deadline day so I don't see the point in getting wound up until then because let's be honest it could all change in a moment.

Really hope this isn't the end of it, I just can't see anyone else who we've been linked to who could potentially impact our starting 11 as much, from an attacking perspective.

We've had tenuous links to Insigne, maybe Paratici goes back in for him?

Can you read? They’ve said he isn’t for sale, not that they’ve simply rejected a bid.

no business done for a few weeks with the squad in a dire state and you’re content ?
Yes thanks, perfectly capable of reading, also aware that a great deal of the ‘language of football transfer negotiation’ is utter bollocks. Also aware there’s days left and we may well have other options.

Can you read? Because you appear to have seen the word ‘content’ someone in my post, but it isn’t there?

Not for sale is pretty unequivocal & not exactly ‘we aren’t keen on the structure’…

Although as usual, the article contains nothing at all that says he’s not for sale. It has a nebulous boiler plate quote from the manager that of course they’d like to keep their best players and that they need good players to compete in the league.

they may not sell him, but as usual, it’s just a clickbait article based on one rejected (derisory) bid and a standard operating procedure press conference quote.

I genuinely can’t believe that you think we will somehow pull multiple rabbits out of the hat.
This window is taking the exact same form as the previous, disappointing ones.

Nah Percy is the best journo there is for any football stuff in the Midlands. If it's coming from him you can be sure he's been told Adama won't be leaving.

We might still up our bid and get him but they're certainly not going to accept anything less than a premium for him, nor should they.

Im indifferent about getting him, however people forgetting the power of Mendes, the opportunity to move two of his players with his cut of the deal values plus 3 × agent fees from wolves spurs and club guedes comes from, im sure in total thats worth a couple million if not just a tad more to him and his filithy coffers

So you actually questioned my reading, then proceed to respond to stuff I haven’t actually said. ‘Multiple rabbits out of the hat’…where on earth did I say that?

Mendes owes us for Doherty

He better pull some strings if he wants that commission

I reluctantly agree with this. Seems like we're flailing around now. I hopefully will be proven wrong but I'm not expecting much more now. Still optimistic for the season. If last year's squad had just been fitter we would have strolled into a top 4 place. That said, we need some damn cover for Kane.

Are you happy with the state of play currently? Do you genuinely believe he isn’t our top target? I don’t care about ‘other options’, we’ve been down that road too many times and delivered managers shite they didn’t ask for and look where it’s got us!

From the Wolves ITK FWIW

Looks like we won't be able to get away with that loan bollocks if we really want him

I didn’t feel there was anything interesting enough to respond to ?

You commented on my bloody post, claiming I’ve said all sorts of rubbish I haven’t. If you actually read what I’ve said, it would make the conversation easier.

I don’t think we’re done. I don’t think a deal is over because a club rejects a bid. I think we have other options. That’s what I’ve said.

Never said I was happy, never said it was enough, that’s all in your head.
