Our new striker seems to have a good ability to hold the ball where it might look like he is about to get tackled, and his strength lies in his positioning. He is always in the right area at the right time and is very committed so far.
At the end of the day though, this means he gets a lot of chances (very good thing obviously), but last coupla games has struggled to put them away. Some have been headers but others just look like he can't really drill or drive a ball. He needs a long range style chip to score, or he poaches. Today at the hawthorns, he essentially missed a penalty and got lucky with foster gifting the ball back.
then the 3rd goal was his excellent positioning and commitment to keep on playing even in injury time rather than his ability to shoot that got him the goal.
i just hope if this guy can learn to really shoot a hard straight ball where he intends it, he could be lethal.. or is it too late in his career to get him doing that?
thoughts?
