Adebayor, can he drill/drive a ball?

i was begining to think that i am the only one getting frustrated with all his missed chances. the same happened in the game with Villa. before Defoe's goal i was begining to swear him. No i am not having a moan just an observation of the amount of chances/sitters he misses. he has scored 4 in 2 games so we should be elated.

I can't complain about the guy because although he currently isn't clinical in front of goal his work is invaluable to the team.

Well, if he misses 10 and scores 2 every game I will be pretty happy.

Some strikers are very clinical, and might put away 1 of the 2 chances they have in the game. Ade is not that kind - he is not the best finisher, but he is fantastic and getting the chances, so the result is the same. Not to mention that the rest of his game is of a really high level, on and off the ball, he is very skillful and involved.

We have been having a crazy amount of shots on goal this season. Ade is a big reason for that. When you have so many shots you end up scoring lots of goals, even if Sandra Redknapp is leading the line...

Had a shite day in front of goal and scored twice....I'll take that all season long.

Clean finishing or not, he has bagged 4 in 2, the number of assists (7 IIRC) more than makes up for any missed shots.

Not someone that is cold-hearted in the box but I don't care as he brings so much to the team. As others have mentioned at least he actually gets into the position to have all these chances. He gets in these positions regularly so im not bothered at all.

Tbh i'm surprised some people are actually moaning. He blasted the ball in against Liverpool.

He's not perfect and does miss chances, but he is definitely the upgrade on crouch we were looking for. His all round play makes the team play so much better.

He seems to miss some easy chances, but then he makes up for it by scoring still. He's yet to hit top form again, a season of not playing will do that I should imagine.

This is an incredible improvement on Crouch, we should be thrilled. Adebayor will get better I'm sure of

Defoe has been very unselfish compared to normal this season, this is down to Ade too

He had 9 shots on target and converted 2. Those were mostly quality chances as well, not hit and hopers. Not complaining yet as he's done what's needed to get the points. But he won't be getting that many second bites at the apple all season long.

10 games. 7 goals. 5 assists.

Could he have 14 goals? Yes, for sure. But the same could be said for a lot of strikers. I think the amount of chances he misses are made up for the number of chances he creates.

I do like Ade but regardless of the number of goals he has scored the amount of great opportunities he has missed is a bit of a concern. Perhaps I'm deluded but I believe that had JD been presented with the same chances our goal difference would be that much greater.

some people are such WHINGERS! what a talent, rooney definetly has up to 5 chances a game. There will be a game where he gets one chances and gives us the lead ( Like wolves away)

He has just scored 4 in two not complaining :)

Oh ffs. People aren't complaining. But it is something that can be improved. As DFF said, he won't get the opportunity to spurn 5 clear cut chances and still put a couple in away at United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City.

Whilst it's OK to do this against teams we can make chance after chance against, it is a little bit of a concern that he is missing sitters every game.

We are happy, but there are always improvements to be made.

This makes no sence, you are presuming that JD would have been able to be in the same position and contributed to the build up in the same way that Ade did.

I really think that some people on here dont watch any footie outside Spurs, every player missed chances, not every playr gets 2 in 2! Its just sheer stupidity, how many players get hatricks in a season, the way some of you are talking it would be a regular occurance!

Ade's overall contribution is what should be evaluated. Beyond goals he holds up very well. Yes, he could improve his conversion ratio but to be critical overall is pretty unfair when he just scored 4 goals in a week.

That said, continuous improvement is one of the things that has made Fergie and ManUSA the success they are today so maybe tough but constructive analysis is just part of a new phase for us as we become a top team?
