he has a point - but I must admit when I seen the headline I thought this would be about him signing permanently, and breathe.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has warned that Tottenham will not finish in the top four if they repeat the kind of poor display which saw them limp to victory over Sunderland.

Spurs moved in to third place in the Barclays Premier League after returning to winning ways with a nervy 1-0 win over the Black Cats at White Hart Lane.

Spurs lacked the vibrancy and attacking flair which they have displayed in abundance during their recent 11-match unbeaten run, and had it not been for a good performance from Brad Friedel in goal, the Black Cats would have come away with at least a point.

"If we want to be in the top four we have to play better than we did against Sunderland," Adebayor told Spurs TV Online. "I don't know happened in the first half. I don't really want to know. I'm just glad that the game is over.

"We felt heavy on the pitch and we didn't have any solution. It was tough but to be champions that's what it takes.

"It's the kind of game that, regardless of what happened, we were just pleased to get the three points."

When you don't play that well the best plan is to keep quiet and practise
your finishing

Says he that couldn't hit a barn door from 2 paces and was caught offside something like 8 or 9 times.

God i hope we dont pay this guy 170k a week, he is good but not that good. Why is it that every forward we get takes 7 chances to find the onion bag.?

Certainly a massive upgrade on what we did have and is usefull at leading the line on his own BUT i don't think he's worth that amount of money a week anymore.

I still feel we need a more clinical/lethal finisher.

how can he when he trains with defoe, he is the f**kin master at been offside. no one comes near to his intelligence

I worked out the offsides this season per min for both Defoe and Ade, and Ade was offside more, and that was before another 8 in the last match.

Missed yet another 1 on 1 as well...

thats fair enough but i dont know how much defoe has actually played minutes wise this saeson but thankfully not much imo. he is good sub to have though, can bring a spark and looks lively when he comes on. just hope harry can keep him sweet.. but overall im saying defoe has no clue of offside im convinced of it..id say if u asked him he wouldnt know rules. its beyong joke and its all down to been just a little clever and showing little intelligence. he is just 2 eager i think... adebayor is not far better and for him i think its just been a bit 2 lazy at times

The full article is a lot more positive, but the headline for some reason tries to put a negative spin on it.

Are people really getting on his back? The guy has been a revelation for us.

He is 100% right. We didn't play that great. I thought it had a 0-0 or a smash and grab written all over it for a while.

It's great that we can play poorly and still get a result.

It's a reminder not to get complacent or relaxed against lesser sides

Very true, however Adebayor does prove valuable in link up play.

Ade has said exactly what needs to be said and he's 100% correct to do so. I agree his finishing could and should be a lot better but he is one of the massive reasons why we have won 11 of our last league games. He is FAR better at leading the line than Crouch ever was and a better finisher. Take Ade out of our team and our house of cards collapse. We do not have another striker on our books who leads the line like he does. Get behind the man and remember what we had leading the line 12 months back before you start getting on his back ffs.....

I dont think anyone is getting on his back, all the +s you mention are correct like the - you mention. Just the amount of wages he will be expecting on a perm deal he should be alot better infront of goal. Hopefully it will all come together soon, as we have all seen him in finish alot better and more frequently.:)

Its almost like people prefer it when a player just goes home from the game satisfied with the three points and generally not giving a shit, worrying more about where he's going to get laid that night than where he and the team might improve.
