Just a bit worried about the reports I've been hearing about the team not liking him very much.

Quite frankly he can't be any worse than the first 2/3 of last season...

On his day (Against Newcastle at home Feb 11th 2012) he is almost unplayable and makes things happen all around him, lets hope he stays and has plenty of days like that one as with the rest of the team on form around him we will be able to demolish the toughest of defences COYS

Would be superb if he returned to form. A firing, motivated Adebayor is better than both Benteke and Leandro.

We should keep him but last season showed we cannot rely solely on him and Defoe so someone else needs to come in too. Remy has been mentioned and whilst I'm not his biggest fan he did well in the short time he had at QPR. It's also a deal I can see Levy being all over.

I can't get my hopes up about Soldado. Just seems so unlikely to me.

So Ade will be in shape come the start of the season..... That's nice of him, we should be grateful.

Very true. Missing any of pre-season must be tough, to miss pretty much all of it probably affects your whole season to some extent.

Imagine what a monster Sandro will become after his first full pre-season!

I am thinking that Leandro could be that young striker we need to round out our striking force.

Ade is the main striker, Defoe as the impact sub, and introducing the young understudy Leandro as the Padewan learner!

The guy has just turned 24, so not a youngster any more, and the price that it would cost for us to get him in he wont be 3rd choice

my problem with him was never about the injuries. how long do you need to regain pre season fitness? i mean the preseason itself is only a few weeks, so shouldnt your fitness but up to the same standard lets say, 2months top? imo thats not an excuse, but lets just give him the benefit of doubt. throughout the season his injuries were one to two weeks max, i mean c'mon bale had a badly twisted ankle and came back, throughout the season we had players pulling their hamstring/groin slightly yet when they came back, all they need was 1-2 games to get back into it.

we all saw what ade can do during the final 3 games of the season. those 3 games he was penetrating defences, taking good shots and imo i saw a man playing with a sense of urgency. had arsenal slipped up everyone would have been praising bale and him, how he turn the corner and delivered at the end.

from what i see when ade was playing, he dont looked bothered or restricted by injuries at all. the difference between the ade from last 3 games, and the ade in the others, is that hes actually looking to attack. throughout the season whenever hes given the ball, he will hold it up regardless of what the situation is. its like he doesnt even look to attack. 'hey im the hold up guy, remember?". whenever theres space between defenders and chances that strikers would relishes to penetrate, he will shy away, stop play, pass back. if he played and penetrate like he did in the last 3 games, we would have been top 3, no doubt.

i will keep him for 1 more season though, but never again as the no1 striker to be the tip of the spear of our attack. and if by selling him is the only way that would fund us a striker like soldado, then of course i'll do it in a heartbeat

I don't think having him as a backup striker would be that big on an issue. We have four competitions ahead of us this year and if he can prove himself in the Europa League and Cups he could take over for Ade next year as the primary striker.

If we sign someone like Soldado then we have a real problem with Ade this year, a high priced striker sitting on the bench. We need to keep Ade at least one more year with the money that City is subsiding running out after this year next year makes more sense to move him on.

If Leandro comes I see it as a late window Levy type signing. Internationale is running out of suitors for him, especially if Napoli sign Higuan.

Missing pre-season is huge for players, without it it's very difficult to get the core fitness required during the season for such a high level.

Some players like Bale have such immense natural fitness that they could probably only do a week Or so and b ready, I can't see Ade in that category.

I'm not convinced by Adebayor after last season.

In my opinion when you are starting the majority of games ahead of hungry competition with your team gunning for the CL places, you raise your game. Otherwise nothing will motivate you.

Personally I'm happy to keep him around as on his day he can be very effective. But I certainly wouldn't bank on him as a starter.

Completely agree with the original post but as Ade's preference is to drift still think we need that central player who we can rely on to attack the ball.

Maybe that'll be the surprise and it'll be the likes of Paulinho and Siggy powering in late to score our goals with a moveable feast up top a la Lampard at Chelsea.
